Title: Q33 Are there any developments / uses that you would like to see for the park area?
Analysis: case, Q33
Filter: Q33 ok
case Developments would like to see for park area.    Community Facility Building  Stop Anti-sociallBehvioiur - Warden   Fitness Zone    Community Events   Other
5 open the cafe, ( as sutton in craven has)
15 It would be great to have an area locked at night to prevent underage driking & litter. Better use of the bowling pavilion - could serve drinks ice lollies etc.
22 pavilion, serving drinks and snacks - such as the one at sutton park
24 Yes are path circuiting the park for running etc
30 The footpaths in the park near the skate park and the changing rooms are in terrible disrepair and need making good.  The changing rooms are dilapidated and could do with a major refurbishment / new building
32 A croquet lawn. It would not be large and could also be used for bowls practice.
33 Cafe in the park.
36 No dogs of lead of fowling of playing fields, toilets and cafe.
39 A fenced in dog park to let dogs off lead safely
40 Tidy up the bowling green, Tennis courts area.
41 there is a large piece of flat unused exmill i think, off the canal towards kildwick opposite airedale muse, it would make a good park
43 An athletics track painted on in summer. One of those 'outdoor gyms' for adults, with permanent physical exercise apparatus.
49 Croquet lawn.
69 Giving responsibility to the young people as a community project to keep the park free of litter especially glass.
74 ban dogs
76 Toilets
80 A FOR HIRE ALL WEATHER PITCH.
83 More community activity. More facilities toilet.Cafe etc. have it lets use it
85 Better drainage of grassed areas
95 cafe in park.
100 More public toilets
118 we take our son to the park and he loves it, perhaps if anything a renewed park play ground the truck thats in the baby playground is a bit dirty and there have been cigarettes found inside.
120 Safe environment for all residents of Silsden to use for sports and recreational. Nothing really needs developing on this land except improving current facillities and security.
122 Renovation of pavillion
125 totally dog free zones
126 Cafe perhaps run by and with the local community.  Youth council and volunteers.
137 A cafe pavillion, including toilets, like Sutton park has - ice creams in summer and teas and soups in winter. If you're with a child in the playground they run around and keep warm whilst parents freeze!  Be good for tourists to sit and enjoy the views too.
143 Leisure centre i.e gym, swimming
148 Cafe including some outdoor but sheltered seating say from Easter to October initially. could be combined with function as an information, local adverts etc area.
159 A development of the old 'white building' in Silsden Park to perhaps a nursery providing childcare to local people as the demand is very high
164 Small refreshment place.  Toilets (to be locked at night)
170 disabled parking within the park
171 the cafe reopened maybe on a 'friends of silsden' scheme like in sutton
179 Better drainage. In winter it becomes almost unusable
181 Organised tennis matches played on the courts in the park
197 Cafe, toilet facilities, garden area.  The park has never felt to be 'open to all'.  It feels like someone else owns it and that they are happy to let it go to ruin.  Below the Bowling green is lovely, and the play area has always been good.  The old building and the bowling green area could have a lot going for them if the area was more welcoming.
201 may be looking at better use of local events with the space that we have also the skate park is a terible design and vandalised you only have to look at glusbuns which is far superior!! maybe getting rid of the tennis courts that i have not seen any one use in years and move the bowling grren on to it?
206 The park is a mess - looking at other local parks (Glusburn and Sutton) ours is awful. We should look to develop the pavillion and run this as a village fundraiser providing tea coffee etc.. this would allow parents to buy drink and watch their children play - they would then use it more. I also think a park keeper as we used to have would be money well spent
217 None
218 More seating, a small cafe which i'd be quite happy to franchise/rent. Lots more climbing frames and swings etc. Maybe a small lake/large pond.
219 A dog agility area woudl be great!
224 keep dogs out of childrens play area
231 Used as a community space... have activities there
232 open air concerts/ plays
234 Re-furbishment of the pavillion in the park for use by all age groups, Trim Trail around the perimeter of the park to help promote fitness dogs should be kept on lead and fouling should be dealt with promptly by the owner (more enforcement needed)
245 Facilities for older people to help maintain mobility etc
251 Old changing rooms could be refurbished and used for a youth club or cafe.  Toilet facilities could be available.
260 more bins
262 Refreshments Kiosk, repair of coping stones which have been dislodged for several years. Nature Trail
266 A cafe selling ice cream and snacks in the summer, and warm food in the winter, along with tea coffee juice etc.. also toilet facilities, so many times I have been caught out with my children..
269 Running trails and outdoor gym
272 toilet facilities, small shop selling drinks/icecreams may attract more visitors
279 more vigorous enforcement of no dog fouling.
285 More sheltered areas in the park, with flower beds/shrubbery/landscaping and seating, so that people can sit and admire the flowers/planting and the views.
286 Tearoom/social facilites - meeting point. Adult excercise facilitires. Adventure type facilites for older children siliar to Ilkley.
294 Swimming Pool!
299 Toilets. Nearly everyone takes their children - no toilets. More activities for children if it is raining there is nowhere to take them in doors and nothing to do.
303 Cafe in the park over looking the children's play area as this would encourage more parents to the park and spend more time. An adventure playground / skate park for older children. Wild life area, i.e. pond
304 running track/fitness area
306 Inprove drainage on sports fields!
307 A cafe.
327 fitness track. organised outdoor fitness/ taster seesions.
329 running track
331 Renovate and open the pavillion.
337 no just keeping it clean and attractive - maybe restoring the pavillion
340 updated draining of the sport pitchers
345 More benches in the older childrens playarea, cafe or refreshment kiosk, fencing in of the older childrens area to prevent access by dogs, would be great to have a track where children could ride their bikes around the edge of the older childrens play area, toilets / baby change facility.
352 Make something of it! It is just a huge field, no garden no footpaths.
356 Sports Club House
358 Yes. The park buildings are in a very poor state of repair and could be made better use of.
363 more organised events
369 Tea Rooms
370 The old building near the bowling green  to be deveopled and possibly used as a Community Centre. Boarded up does not give a could impression to our lovely park area. Sutton Park is a really good example. More seating.... Improve the tennis courts
374 I think somewhere to buy refreshments would really be welcomed in the park, families with children, passers through and those that use the bowling green would make it a worthwhile venture
376 Changing facilities for Football/rugby. Use of the Bowling tea room as a cafe for all.
389 Let's Friends of Silsden Park group to repair and look after the original pavilion - it could a marvellous facility
392 There is a building which is unused in a central position in the park. It would be nice to have a cafe there, but I'm not sure if it would be financially viable.
398 Better equipt tennis court.
410 cafe and toilets
412 Picnic benches. Artwork on the skateboard area e.g. grafitti artwork that will appeal to teenagers.
414 The pavillon refurbished and used for refreshment in the summer months
415 gym style equipment for the adults to use
416 As above. Centre to be built by local trademan
423 Refurb of buildings at top end of park, they are very unsightly.  Poss development where basketball net is.
425 more facilities
431 Mobile van for hot drinks.
436 I would love to see the old pavilion restored - currently boarded up. It has in its foundations names of school teachers from the 50s.
439 Toilets.
441 Toilets.
442 Some positive use of the buildings which are at present locked up.
445 Better policed.
448 Toilets - perhaps small cafe/soft drink facility - clearing litter around the beck.
452 More seating. Path around path for older people so they can walk or take their wheelchairs. Some flower borders or planters along the path.
456 Good toilet facilities. The old changing rooms should be refurbished and perhaps used for youth activities.
458 Uncertain - I don't think the park area is a safe place at certain times.
460 Sort out the buildings by then tennis courts and bowling green. Better play equipment for older children... A teenage obstacle course, pyramid climbing frame, zip wire, and all weather cycle course around the perimeter of the park.
463 More parking space.
464 I would like to see people of any age being encouraged to clean up the mess they make when they use the park. I would like young people to take more care when using the paths in the park.
466 The old buildings in the park - near the bowling green, think used as changing rooms for football, could be made into an events building to let/coffee bar/parties/groups. The building looks very run down an eyesore for such a lovely park. The garden area in front of it need attending to, very run down.
467 I would like to see the cafe in the park reopened and toilets reopened. The park looks as though no pride has been taken with it. Its a great asset to the town.
480 A swimming pool, too long in coming.
483 Improve tennis courts. Pitch and Putt.
489 Pavilions and changing rooms in the park. Bowling club facilities.
491 More things for the children to play on – Silsden park is boring!
493 Cafe? Toilets if we are to have visitors, children's nature trails -educated, enclosed dry dog run – all in park. Old mills – little shops like Salts – but not as expensive. Monthly farm/local grown produce market. History of Silsden – nails, textiles, canal.
494 Maypole – close to Bolton Road entrance. Walled garden with herbaceous borders and wildflowers. Area of wildflower meadow to increase pollinating insects (this will save costs of mowing too!).
495 Flower beds etc so that it is a prettier place to visit.
499 Dog fouling.
501 Silsdners could use the slightly inclined area behind the top - and hold a craft/local produce/activities stall/events. Make if free to attend but charge the stall holders a minimal standard fee in summer.
506 Facilities for tea/ice creams etc during the summer months.
507 How about opening up the cafe facing the bowling green during the summer months.
518 No, it is perfect. The Bridge public house now up for sale would make a good tourist attraction if taken over as a restaurant catering for families and narrow boat users.
520 Toilets. Moe seating. Cafe. Garden/flower beds. Water feature. Paddling pool//water park.
521 No dogs allowed off leads.
525 Toilets, cafe in school holidays/weekends.
536 Better lighting at night.
548 Paddling pool in park and toilets in park.
549 I would like the stones back for the footpaths (where are they).
556 I would be happy to create a Café in the park.
560 Clear derelict buildings or repair and restore them - buildings by bowling green are an eyesore.
562 Café/toilets.
563 Pavilion and toilet building made fit for use - Sutton park a perfect example.
570 The changing hut demolished or refurbished and the weird building beside it is ugly and useless.
571 Public toilets. Tea/coffee/ice cream parlour - mobile perhaps to attract more adults to linger in the area.
572 Café/tea room and toilets.
573 Better drainage.
574 The café brought back into life.
577 Café, fitness trail (have seen these set up elsewhere). Ensure current facilities are well kept.
580 All weather football pitch.
588 Adequate.
592 Regular park security presence. Encourage use of tennis court and summer activities e.g. putting/mini golf/crazy golf etc, for children/young people.
596 I would like to see a town plan showing footpaths such as Skipton has posted on view in the main car park. I have tried both Skipton and Keighley libraries to no avail.
600 Organised activities. More park for older children. Small children play area is great.
603 More seats.
611 Silsden is famous for producing motor cycle trails. Riders out of town areas are being restricted by out of town councillors, keeps kids of the streets and keeps them fit and responsible.
616 Restoration of pavilion and water fountain incorporating tuck shop for children.
618 Café and toilets. Toilets more than anything.
619 Would like Rough Holden Farm to be allowed to continue to host motorbike trials.
626 Better drainage, café area, down by the stream could be developed into a picnic area in the park.
627 Toddler area. Cleaner. Toilets.
628 Refurbishment of the pavilion. Better maintained. More seats and flower beds. New bins.
668 A small café, weekends maybe.
669 Café/tea room operating in the summer time.
673 More things for children and adults to do together.
679 Café facilities and public toilets.
680 Putting Green.
683 A path round or a running track.
712 Perhaps a park café and a few more seats around.
714 Use for more communal projects, markets, concerts, fun days, barbeques etc.
717 Public toilets. A bigger skate park the current one is not adequate for the numbers that use it.
719 More facilities for older kids but more litter control and dog mess cleaning.
722 More wheelchair/scooter friendly pathways in the park.
724 Cycle path with obstacles - a development from the present skateboard area.
728 Café.
732 A comprehensive school. 6ft boundary fence around park/playing fields (no dogs).
738 I would like to see the untidy bushy area on the top slope above the rugby field severely reduced so that people on the top picnic tables and seats can see the progress of the rugby. This would make this area safer especially for youngsters.
739 Bands on summer weekends. Talent shows for kids. A snack bar, hot drinks etc.
744 Jogging track round perimeter of park.
745 Drainage of the area. A lot more monitoring of irresponsible dog owners. Refurbishment of paths and beds. An on site park warden. The big shed in centre to be turned into sport changing rooms and the other boarded up building to be refurbished and used possibly cafe and information centre. Also do not drastically pollard trees just because their blossom falls on parked cars.
746 A band stand. A cinema.
748 Toilets. Nearly everyone takes there children. No toilets. More activities for children if it is raining there is no where to take them in doors and nothing to do.
749 Refurbishment of pavilion in the park for use by all age groups. Trim trail around the perimeter of park to keep everyone fit. Dogs should be kept on leads and dog fouling should be dealt with promptly by owner.
751 Outdoor bootcamp.
752 Refurbishment of paths and steps (health and safety issue). Refurbishment of pavilion/changing room. More seating in all areas. More attention to flower beds and grass cutting, without cut grass being left covering the paths. Silsden is a poor relation to Bradford's Lister Park and Ilkley Riverside Park etc.
754 Tarmac court area, enclosed and fenced for dog exercise.
755 Please restore the small children's play area in the upper park. The ridiculous Americanisation in having a basket ball net is completely incongruous and I have never seen it used. My children enjoyed this area in the 1980s it was less intimidating than the large area where teenagers congregate.
756 More tennis courts and better care of the football pitches I.e. litter and glass.
758 Tea room.
759 A fixed cross country course. Nature trail/serious garden.
760 Better policing of drugs.
761 The changing rooms for rugby/football modernised, café incorporated.
765 Public convenience.
767 improvements/use of the old building near the tennis courts.
769 If tourism is to be promoted - improving impressions when people are approaching Silsden from the A629 junction is important. Disused land, and the commercial units off Belton Road, aren't attractive. Disused land can be landscaped (or build on). Commercial units can be hidden with more tree/hedge planting.
770 No. It would be better growing vegetables (a good healthy diet) for the townies).
773 Leisure centre - pool.
774 More village gatherings. Markets in summer etc. Crazy golf.
775 Pavilion brought back into use (refreshments in summer). Climbing wall, and basketball court again. Holiday scheme for children and young people.
777 More care of the garden areas - flower beds etc. maintain the park buildings and maybe put back into use.
778 Toilet facilities. A café.
779 A dog fouling area. Dog fouling elsewhere to be fined. More seats. A drinking fountain, a coffee bar/café, sheltered seating area.
790 A little café/ice cream pavilion would be nice.
792 Café.
793 Green gym/trim track to encourage all ages to exercise and use the park.
799 Pitch and put. More litter bins. Nature trail. Water feature. Botanic garden. Woodland area. Picnic area. Café. Greater warden visibility. Better lighting at night.
800 Like to see closed building opened up and used as café (opposite bowling green).
801 Less drunken gangs of youths.
803 Proper, controlled use of tennis courts I.e. club.
805 More facilities for the teenagers so they are not kids park swearing.
810 Children's adventure playground similar to St Ives at Harden.
813 An old fashioned warden or better policing: CCTV? Litter is an issue - glass, cans and plastic: they don’t arrive as if by magic and penalties need to be enforced by evidential proof. Awful language is a deterrent but how that can be eradicated without any challenge being greeted by similar is not something I can foresee.
823 Kids play area.
825 Easier access. Sort out the disused building.
826 Swimming pool.
835 A larger imaginative playground for children.
836 More children's facilities I.e. football/basketball court that can be used when the grass is wet or frozen. The one on Elliott Street is too far away from the Waterside area of Silsden.
838 Proper maintenance of bowling green.
839 Organised events/competitions etc.
840 Children's play area should be swept and kept clean. And not allow cans etc. to be left lying around. Before grass is cut litter should be picked up by people who drop it.
841 the original park building brought back into use as a café. Could also hire out bowls and tennis equipment. Replacement of rugby club changing facility.
843 Is there a bowling green there.
845 Outside pool area.
847 Bigger fines for dog fouling, in the park, on the green - everywhere really.
850 Get rid of the dangerous and not fir for purpose skate park and replace with something like the one at Roberts Park Saltire/Shipley. Café. More bins and regularly emptied - make football/rugby teams using park responsible for keeping area tidy.
854 Perhaps a running track around the top pitch.
858 A shop and café area.
860 Some more things for young children.
863 A paved/tarmac path around the whole perimeter of the park would provide an all weather circular walk for pram and wheelchair users.
867 Clean modern toilets.
869 The building in park should be renovated and used by our youngsters giving them the responsibility of helping to decorate and deciding how best to use it for their purpose.
873 Toilets.
879 Public toilets open during daytime only. Especially for the use of mother and babies and young children.
881 Where are the stones from the footpaths, they need resetting, belong to Silsden people, bring them back. The park belongs to Silsden not Bradford. Maybe a cycle track.
885 A trim trail, need more hedging.
896 A leisure centre with pools, gyms etc.
897 Couldn’t we have a paddling pool like Sutton? That’s an excellent part and attracts many visitors in summer so get business for local shops.
900 Renovate the boarded up building on the way into the park. Better places to sit and enjoy communally during the day and possibly a covered area for bad weather/the evening.
901 Adult fitness equipment, exercise equipment i.e. ski, air walkers.
902 Park needs a public toilet.
903 Re-furbish the pavilion, the white building above the bowling green.
905 It would be good if there was a foot path which went right around the park e.g. behind the football pitch then up by Mitchell Lane then up the edge and right up to the rugby pitch. A popper path so you don’t always have to wear willies when walking here.
906 Tea rooms for the OAPs.
911 A good clean up
914 Better changing facilities.
918 Just to make it safer after dark to pass through.
924 Cafe.
926 Cafe in summer months selling ice creams, liquid refreshments etc.
931 Larger play area swings etc. for a large park the play area is very small. Also toilets needs to be reopen through the day in summer.
932 I would like to see an upgrade in changing facilities for the footballers and rugby players who use the park. What they have now is a disgrace and look like it should belong in a 3rd world country.
936 More facilities for children and families.
941 Yes free parking so as not to block people who live nearby.
944 Develop the house within the park into some usable facility.
947 Dog fouling signs.
948 Public lavatories would be useful to discourage young people urinating around the back of the pavilion.
949 Just a general sprucing up and good maintenance.
952 Pitch and Putt.
953 More party in the park. Sunday Market.
974 Small refreshment facility for bowls players, tennis and people just sitting and watching these activities going on.
975 Café.
978 Facilities to use during school holidays. WC, small shop, could the building of the bowling club be sued? Could even be run by parents.
979 More seating and litter bins.
980 Maybe a café or a car boot type sale.
984 Just to have it kept clean. No bottles thrown about, dog dirt or litter.
987 Better maintenance of tennis courts.
988 Catering facility.
993 Netball court.
994 I would like to see the tennis court improved.
998 Safe and clean football areas for boys to reduce kicking balls outside neighbours property. Prevent nuisance incidents and damage to property.
999 Wouldn’t it be great to turn that lovely building into a café with toilets also open Sundays?
1002 Dog waste bins. Redevelop redundant building into a small tourist/community centre.
1004 No.
1011 The old pavilion in park is a good asset wasted, would be good to see it repaired and in use.
1047 Designated area for dog fouling!! Toilets.
1053 Regular cleaning.
1060 Demolish the pavilion and build a community centre.
1062 New changing rooms for local teams.
1064 Public toilets.
1065 Keeping it cleaner from dog fouling would be a huge advantage - as I am told by people who have young children - and grandchildren. (And people who play rugby!)
1071 Warden to protect children.
1076 Toilets reopened.
1079 Boats/paddling lake. More seats, more bins. Pathways across the park which floods and inaccessible. More flowers.
1080 Someone to monitor the language of the football players when they are playing so close to the children's playground. Public loos.
1081 No.
1082 Better parking facilities for bowling green/tennis/football users - shouldn't have to park outside residents homes - causes aggro and ill feeling - most bowlers are retired, cannot walk far, carrying heavy bowls and bad weather clothes - there is room opposite the houses - make it into parking area for park users, even residents visitors - have spoken to some residents and having cross words (as a bowler) they are agreeable to this.
1088 More community events.
1091 Pavilion/changing rooms for rugby.
1092 Picnic areas. Toilet facilities. Fitness course/area.
1093 Dog park - quite American/Canadian idea though seriously helps to keep dogs away from sports grounds/children's playing fields.
1096 Park facilities much improved.
1101 Tea rooms.
