Title: Q18 Please describe briefly anything else that would increase your use of public transport.
Analysis: case, Q18
Filter: Q18 ok
case Please describe briefly anything else that would increase...    Cheaper fares    Access to Station Higher frequency/ later running   Other
5 better parking or access to steeton station
8 Less expensive fares. It's cheaper to drive!
9 cheaper fares.
20 hopper bus every 30 mins round silsden and to station
25 cheaper fares
28 More hopper busses to and from  Keighley/Skipton
34 A safe method of crossing the Aire Valley bypass
39 Cheaper fares. It costs me less to use my car.
40 More cycle safety cages at the station.
41 n/a
42 Cheaper fares
51 Properly indicated bus stops and visible timetables
52 Increase the number of train carriages with quiet areas
54 Buses to Skipton.
55 More buses from Waterside area to station and Skipton
57 Would use more if there was a bus service to Skipton
58 price
65 If the fares were lower.
66 If there were more buses.
69 A safer area to park my car.
70 see comments above.
73 if my car or bicycle broke down
75 A bus service directly to Skipton
76 There needs to be a bridge over the A629
82 Cheaper train fares.
101 Earlier buses and trains really for work purposes through the week.
109 I think a drop-off point at the station would be safer and more convenient, although it wouldn't actually affect how often I and my family use the train.  It can also be quite dangerous crossing the dual carriageway to get to the railway station.
113 Safe crossing over by-pass to walk/cycle to station
118 cheaper fares
120 Instant removal of any teen(s) or adult(s) that can't behave. Lower prices. Better timetables. Bring back inspectors that have powers to remove idiots!
125 prices lowered-for a family day out costs too much compared to petrol still
137 Safe access across the dual carriage way to the train station. A single regular bus service to Skipton.
144 Around the station late at night its poorly lit, its danerous trying to cross the bypass on foot, and after 8am theres no parking spaces at the train station at steeton
148 frequent free 'feeder' bus to Steeton & Silsden railway station
158 Bridge from Silsden to Steeton Train station across duel carraige way.
166 Crossing the dual carriage way is a frightening prospect, so much so that I would NEVER walk to the train station because of it.
170 been able to book in advance a particular jouney, explaining requirements
181 A bridge over the a629 by steeton &silsden station
188 More cycle storage at Steeton and Silsden station
197 Passengers from outside area are attracted to Steeton/Silsden Station - Fare Stages and/or limited parking further up the line - reduces provision for locals.  Need some way of ensuring that locals can use the service. Shuttle between Silsden and Station to meet trains. Route to the hospital.
199 Better footpaths/marked cycle paths from Silsden to the train station. 30mph zone all the way to the dual carriageway roundabout. Footbridge over dual carriageway.
201 an overpass or underpass over the bypass to get to the station
202 Cheaper fares
209 These 6 items on the above list are EXACTLY what I would have put.  - the only thing I would add is regarding the parking at Silsden & Steeton rail station. This is often filled up not with Silsden and Steeton people but those from Cononley and Skipton because rail tickets are cheap inside the West Yorks Border. Rail tickets should be fairer and piority should be given to locals using their closest station.
210 People smoke in the bike shelters right next to the bike shelters which annoys me when I'm buying a ticket. More carriages on the trains so we don't have to stand as much. Difficulty in running down the large number of steps to get to the train platforms. We need a subway under the main roads from the pavements to the platforms.
211 Frequency of buses.
212 Better publicity. For someone 'not in the know' about using public transport it is simply very difficult to understand what is available, how often and what it will cost. I tend to stick to the train on the rare occasions I use public transport simply because I am ignorant of bus services.
214 If I couldn't afford to run a car or I became unable to use one through disability
217 More visible bus stops
218 More frequent, less cost - it's cheaper and more convenient for me to use my car; even with the cost of fuel!  I would definately use public transport but to have to pay approx. £50 per month to go to Ilkley every day is astounding!
223 more frequent  bus service at the top of woodside road from keighley to ilkley
225 If local government could pressurise rail companies to reduce overcrowding on Airedale line trains
231 The buses need to be in sync with the train times!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buses to SKIPTON
232 exteded metro fares to Skipton
233 Cheaper rail fares for commuters - we have to use public transport but yet we get the highest prices.
234 the cost of public transport is very expensive and I would use it more often if this was reduced
237 Need a road crossing from Silsden side to railway station
241 Cheaper fares particularly on the buses.
250 we need a direct bus route to skipton
251 A footbridge across the main road to Steeton & Silsden station.
254 Can't think of anything
261 All of the above. Particularly need a safe crossing to get to the train station especially if the population of Silsden is going to increase under the LDF. Silsden is classified as a 'sustainable location' because of its good public transport links but it is not safe to walk to the train station.
268 a safer method of crossing the by-pass safe passage way on the approach to by-pass from the bridge to the road
277 a bridge or underpass on the bypass to make it easier to get to the station before someone is killed there!!
279 If it was free
281 It is almost impossible at times for an elderly person to cross the A629 at the roundabout to get to the station.
286 There is a commuter bus for Sutton and Bradley
288 Reduction in fares
289 Reduce ticket prices
292 Lower fares
296 Disability and ill health.
300 Silsden - Cross hills Silsden - Skipton
303 Cheaper Costs
304 see above
306 Installation of a footbridge over the A629 at the roundabout near the station.
312 more Leeds Carlisle trains stopping at Steeton and Silsden
317 bridge over the main keighley to skipton road for the railway station from silsden
322 Display giving time of next bus and linking trains at bus stops.
324 as above and more cycle storage on the train.
327 joined up payment options, one ticket for bus and train use.  more frequent bus service timed with train arraivals at the station.
341 higher frequency of buses and much cheaper fares
342 It appears that there is a deliberate policy for the train/bus coordination to be arranged so that the two NEVER meet, ie buses leaving the station minutes before the train arrives.
345 I would love to be able to take the train to leeds or bradford during the day on a Monday - Friday but there is no where to park at the station after 8am in the morning, and the lack of co-ordination with the bus times does put me off using the train.
346 Prices
347 keeping prices stable
348 Service to Skipton
351 A regular, reliable and safe transport service operating at a reasonable cost.
354 bottom of Daisy Hill. Foliage prevents clear sight down Howden Rd. Also a pavement on the left hand side of Howden Rd. would put traffic more central.
356 Shuttle bus Bell Square/Station all day
359 Cheaper bus fares, usually walk to railway station instead.
361 I would only be tempted to use public transport if (a) I had no choice and (b) if it wasn't so expensive
364 cheaper fares
369 Bus from station to Memorial gardens and back
372 Making it possible to reach the railway station without taking your life i your hands crossing the bypass
378 Able to use concessionary Metro card on Trains in North Yorkshire
383 BUSES AND TRAINS MEETING.  THEY DO AT ILKLEY BUT NOT SILSDEN
388 Please don't rule out that some commuters use the Ilkley (zone 4) station for travelling to Leeds and Bradford.
398 Safe pedestrian accesss to the station is the main priority - subway or over-road walkway is a MUST *****.
405 A through bus service from Skipton to Leeds via either Ilkley or Keighley
408 I work in Halifax for which there ae no suitable public transport routes so none of the above would make much difference
409 By the way, I hadn't seen the immediate block of questions when I filled in the item above equal to this area.  So the points we both raised are issues that need addressing.
414 A public transport leaflet with co-odinated timetable to get to various local popular destinations ie Silsden to Bradford, Silsden to Leeds, Silsden to Skipton (and return)
416 We need a bus service to Leeds!!!!!!!! from Silsden direct!!!!!
421 more buses to skipton.
429 Wheelchair access.
430 Bus from Silsden to Steeton never co-ordinates with Skipton buses - has always been like this!
431 None.
434 The horrible state of footways to and from station to Silsden.
439 None.
444 More regular hopped bus time (903) between Keighley and Craven Drive.
446 Pedestrian access across the trunk road to Steeton/Silsden station.
447 Hazardous for pedestrians to cross the A69 from Silsden to access the trains. A footbridge may be one solution.
448 Provision of safe pedestrian crossing across the by-pass at the roundabout at Steeton and Silsden station.
450 I would use the train for longer journeys if there was safe access across the by-pass.
453 Cheaper transport - needs to be cheaper than driving myself for it to be a viable option.
456 Subsidised fares.
457 Coordinate the 762/765 Ilkley/Kly at Steeton and Silsden station with the Skipton to Leeds train.
458 Car parking facility at station car park (Monday - Friday).
460 Better parking.
465 A bridge over bypass to train station.
467 As above mainly.
470 Bus to Skipton. More structured coordination of bus/train e.g. every 2nd train has a bus to Silsden.
472 Bus and train service is good overall. Just need coordination for parking - aware lots of people from other areas use the service too.
494 Make it cheaper!
495 Crossing the dual carriageway. Buses toward the hospital – regular.
497 Plenty for my purpose.
498 Better coordination between bus time. If you wish to go to Skipton you may as well go into Keighley as you can wait up to 30 minutes at Steeton.
501 It the PTEx were much more sensible and practical in their approach to countering problems en route, so to speak.
506 Better off peak links with bus/train.
517 Cheaper fares.
520 Drop off point for Leeds/Bradford side of platform.
536 Knowing when and where they stop. Having bus stops.
541 Lower fares.
542 See Q16
544 A non-step footbridge across bypass to station.
549 When we don’t have a car.
551 Very limited service to Skipton. Don’t understand why Ilkley bus service uses a different route every 30 minutes. Buses don’t link with train at Steeton station. Parking at Steeton station is very poor. But particularly more parking spaces or better connection between train and bus.
553 Less danger crossing Aire Valley road. Lights (not a quarter mile walk over footbridge) pelican crossing etc.
556 I don’t use it because Silsden can be navigated by foot.
560 Making a larger and safer car park at the Steeton and Silsden station (safer from car theft etc.).
563 More frequent Hopper service to and from Keighley.
571 Less over crowding. Better reliability vis-à-vis signal failures etc.
572 Greater use of public transport to access the Yorkshire Dales.
573 A footbridge over the A629.
574 Bus to Skipton from Silsden.
579 Lower fares particularly trains (6.10 return to Skipton from Steeton is high on top of cost to station.
580 N/A.
583 Reduce travelling costs - bus and rail.
588 None.
597 If it was cheaper.
604 If bus pass was valid in North Yorks.
606 Reduce price.
619 More frequent buses around Waterside.
621 Definitely need safe pedestrian access to station I.e. footbridge.
626 Car parking and access to the station.
627 Cost.
632 Safer crossing over the Aire Valley Trunk Road to access the Steeton and Silsden station.
668 Cheaper fares.
669 More parking spaces at the station and would train more often.
670 Cheaper fares.
674 Cost - travelling to Skipton/North Yorkshire very expensive.
675 Better range/choice of tickets. We travel fortnightly to Leeds but get no discount for regular travel.
679 Lower costs.
680 Much more regular trains. More use of Hopper buses. Reduction in cost.
686 An additional bus service from train station onto Waterside to meet a train that arrives after 6:00 pm.
687 More regular bus service (as it used to be) Waterside area - although I realise probably not cost effective because a lot of time buses are empty.
692 Through service to Cross Hills/Glusburn.
697 More buses on the Waterside route.
703 Getting my bus pass.
717 Some of the public transport feel unsafe. If a train is more modern it doesn’t break down as much.
718 Mobility.
719 Later links of the bus to trains at the station - they stop early evening. Safe crossing for pedestrians/cyclists across bypass. Better buses to Skipton. Cheaper buses.
722 A bridge over the bypass is much needed for pedestrians to cross safely.
724 Earlier free starting times as we are retired. We also try not to use public transport when it is rush hour. Extra buses?
732 Better access to the station.
738 If the buses were narrower I would feel safer on my bicycle. They are often the widest vehicles on the road. I feel sorry for the drivers of such wide vehicles. What happened to the smaller hopper buses.
739 Steeton to Leeds railway station. Disabled impossible to negotiate steps. With luggage have to ask for help to carry it. Walk with frequent rests when I must use it.
743 Not relevant.
744 The Hopper service is brilliant - please keep it. Older people and young families really benefit.
745 That the present government does not take away my OAP free pass. Reinstating the Skipton bus through Silsden. Try and increase buses that travel to and from Airedale. A country bus to access all the beautiful areas around Silsden.
746 My big beef is the inability to find a parking space at Steeton and Silsden station due to people from North Yorkshire going to Leeds etc. and using the parking space because its free.
753 At bottom of Elliott Street turning right on to main road to Steeton. Traffic lights could help.
754 Cheaper fares, if K Day was £2.
756 Till the transport was reliable and came direct to peoples doors I don’t see it would make any difference.
758 Stop free travel for over 60's. It costs too much money and buses are always full, annoying for fare paying passengers. Fares continually increasing.
762 Easy access to Leeds side of station. Flight of steps impossible for the elderly or infirm. Badly maintained road at bottom of steps. What about a footbridge over road from car park to station.
765 A direct bus route to Skipton may mean 100% use of pubic transport as opposed to car.
770 If it was free or better explanation and documentation of very cheap fares e.g. day rider or something Metro day? I do not know correct name can you understand as no publicity.
773 Earlier bus times out of Silsden.
776 A direct link from Keighley supermarkets to Silsden. Amend the hopped to loop round the supermarkets before going up Spring Gardens Lane and back to Silsden.
779 If there was a bus stop to serve the Bradley Road area. It would be possible for me, being disabled and lame, to catch a bus if it served the small Bradley estate by turning off Skipton Road to the corner of Bradley Avenue.
783 Cheaper fares.
790 A free railway station only drop off every 10-15 minutes would be helpful as would a decent waiting room/ticket office. Lots of people use the station, but the lack of service (ticket machine permanently our of use and rail users screens often not working either).
792 Definitely a bus that went to Skipton regularly from Silsden especially for work.
794 When I am too old to drive.
798 If a bus went past from Howden Road up into Silsden towards the church. Always use Jackson's buses but in morning don’t go from Howden Road they all turn left towards Keighley.
799 A safe pedestrian crossing at Silsden roundabout. Staff on site at station. CCTV at station.
801 Prices from Steeton bring brought in line with other destinations.
805 Being cheaper and more carriages.
806 A bridge over the bypass so that it is safer to walk to the train station from Silsden.
808 A safe crossing of the main road to get to the station.
809 Cheaper fare possibly.
810 I would sell my car if more direct bus services were in place.
811 Less expensive cost to travel. More reliability.
813 The nature of my work dictates car usage. However, I am not confident about leisure usage.
816 All points covered above but nor currently applicable.
823 Am ok on train and get taxi's - feel safer and quicker.
830 There needs to be a more frequent bus service to Skipton return direct.
832 Being 90 we find the distance we have to walk to the bus stop to Keighley is a long way and there is no shelter once you are there. The bus stop to Ilkley is nearer but here again there is no shelter.
839 Improve the quality of travel and clamp down on bad behaviour and lack of respect by young idiots.
840 Having more time.
841 A regular service through Waterside was withdrawn.
847 More regular and cheaper services.
848 Cheaper fares.
849 Bus service to Skipton.
850 Better direct route.
855 A wonderful service for the over 60's.
860 Being a none driver I need and use the public transport.
864 My inability to drive in the future.
865 Relating to Skipton via Silsden would be very helpful as connection at Steeton top just missed in both direction meaning half an hours wait to Skipton and return to Silsden at Steeton top.
867 Cheaper fares.
872 Cheaper fares.
879 When I receive my bus pass.
880 A late train back from Leeds to Silsden. Somewhere warm and dry to wait at Silsden Station.
881 When we can’t afford a car I was on my own.
884 If buses were more frequent.
885 Pleas provide a safe drop off spot and decent access to the station.
887 I think we have a good public transport through Silsden except better service to Skipton.
891 Shelters and seats at every bus stop.
894 I regularly have to pay bus fares I can’t afford to get to the station as I have my baby and refuse to put him in danger crossing a busy by-pass where I have nearly been run over twice whilst going to the station.
897 Drop off point to stating is needed, as currently unsafe.
900 A hopper to the train station.
902  More selection of passes e.g. buy a book of 10 days at cheaper rate for use in three months or similar.
904 Better time co-ordination on routes towards Skipton, to avoid wasted time at Steeton Top.
905 Cheaper weekly tickets which save you pounds not just pence.
906 Safe crossing by bypass. Over or under not across the road.
910 Cheaper fares.
913 Most definitely if buses and trains were better co-ordinated.
919  Free bus passes much appreciated. Better if it started at 9am not 9.30am.
926  Covered bus stops.
930 Unable to use public transport am 95 years old.
932 A frequent service to Skipton and AGH.
934 I use public transport because I don’t drive. A good transport system is vital for me.
943 A roundabout is needed at the cross roads between Elliott Street, Howden Road and Keighley Road.
944 Walking to the station is difficult because of the bypass. A safe crossing would be appreciated.
949 We use it a lot now and find it very user friendly.
951 Local bus service (903) on Sunday morning.
952 The cost, no coordination between bus and train. Getting to Skipton. Lack of bus shelters when bad weather. Evening bus service and Sundays.
953 Cheaper fares.
962 A better time during the day when none payers can use the bus when workers are at work.
969 When I no longer have a car.
979 Service buses closer to my home.
984 Replace the Ilkley bus stop outside Barclay's Bank.
987 A much more regular and prompt service to Skipton. The no 70 in the morning is most often late and means in particular grammar school students reach their Skipton schools late.
988 Lower fares.
999 Cheaper rates but they are fixed.
1000 Price of bus fares.
1001 Very poor linking between buses and Leeds trains,. Poor bus service to Skipton. Pedestrian access to parking at station are a problem.
1002 Provision of an off road cycle route to Steeton and Silsden station.
1004 All areas are well covered by public transport other than the Dales National Park.
1008 None,
1018 If the coordination was good between bus and train I would use the bus. I don't walk to the station because I have to cross the busy dual carriage way.
1022 Leeds train to Ilkley misses the Silsden bus by 1-2 minutes.
1045 Pedestrian access across the bypass. A safer way to cross the bypass when walking to the station would be beneficial.
1051 A bus route via Bolton Road to Skipton.
1054 Never, too disabled.
1060 Better connections to the surrounding areas.
1061 Only once my eye-sight goes.
1062 Cheap subsidised fare.
1065 Being now 84 (years) and the fact that we live on a hill, a bus stop further up the hill would be a terrific help to us - but as it does not seem possible because of living in a cul-de-sac ((No Suggestions) View) I think this is something that we have to accept (and just feel wistful about!).
1067 Reduced fares.
1073 I didn't have a car so I do use it for all my needs.
1076 Drivers waiting till one sat down and alighted! ( I am disabled.)
1078 Express bus to Keighley and station. Shuttle bus to station.
1079 Better lighting and safety on last train out of Leeds/Bradford is very intimidating - drunks. Guards no where to be seen.
1082 Just more to hospital - if only every hour would help and a bus to Skipton if only 2/3 days per week and buses both ways would be an improvement.
1086 See answer Q16.
1091 Ilkley/Keighley bus going direct (and not round the houses).
1093 reduction in cost.
1094 Reasonable prices.
1095 Use of smaller, more frequent buses in the evening and a link to Skipton.
