Title: Q16 Please describe briefly any barriers that prevent or limit your use of public transport, including destinations that you find difficult to reach by public transport.
Analysis: case, Q16
Filter: Q16 ok
case Please describe briefly any barriers that prevent or limi...   Cost   Travel to Skipton, Airedale,Eastburn   Parking at Station
Lack of co-ordination of bus & train times. Skipton not easy to reach by bus.
times and cost
Access to railway station across bypass is difficult and dangerous
late night train to/from leeds
skipton
the station, dangerous to walk to with young children
travel to skipton regularly, by car, if a bus service was available, would def not need car, lots of people think silsdens pubs are great, but having to pay taxi to get here puts them off
Awful links with the trains the timing of buses should link up with departures and arrivals of trains from the train station. It is virtually impossible to park at the station these days, when you do and your car is not parked properly in a bay they whack on a parking fine. Priority should be given to rail users who live in Silsden/Steeton. We should have a disc system for this
infrequent bus service, bus not timed to trains, loss of hopper service to waterside
my limited mobility prevents use of public transport
The price is ridiculous and its quicker and cheaper to drive and park
Pensioners and disabled having to walk into Silsden for regular bus services. Travel to Skipton and Lancashire difficult.
I would use the train station more but feel walking to Steeton across the busy bypass is too dangerous and I am not prepared to take the risk of injury crossing the road. Also I would use the buses more but there is no direct connection to skipton which would be useful
K&D bus times need better links to Leeds trains
No direct bus to Skipton apart from school bus in term time. Buses do not match Leeds train times at Steeton and Silsden station.
No bus service to Skipton.
Poor connections between trains and buses. No direct link to Skipton
I cannot easily get to the train station in Steeton due to there being no safe way to cross the bypass to Steeton from Silsden. I have to bus when it is easily walkable
Skipton by bus is impossible
No room for buggy if other prams on
The inability to park at Steeton railway station after 7.30am is a source of constant aggravation. Northern Rail say they have no more land to create further parking so I have to drive to Keighley. I am unable to walk to station a mile away due to bad knees . Whats the point in having a local station if the locals cannot use it?????
i have a car , i occasionally catch a bus, its cheaper toget a taxi to keighley if there is two of you. i have no issue crossing the bypass to the train station however i work in care with people with learning difficulties and crossing with them is a nightmare and really dangerous, build a freaking bridge!
Crosshills
There are no direct buses from Silsden to Skipton. Walking to Silsden and Steeton Station is horrendous, there should be traffic lights at the roundabout so pedestrians can safely cross.
Buses to tie in with trains more
No direct route to Skipton. Poor connections between bus and Leeds train times.
Resident outside the town
Unable to get to Skipton.
Would like to travel to Skipton but there is no bus service
Ilkley / Keighley bus does not connect with the Skipton /Leeds trains, leaving passengers waiting almost 25 mins, Also the Keighley ? Skipton bus does not come through Silsden except 2 a day, one early morning and I believe one at teatime
I am usually carrying heavy items . It is impracticable to use Public Transport
Skipton is very hard to reach by public transport from Silsden. I have long wondered about suggesting that the 78A service which runs from Keighley to Skipton, instead of running each hour via Bradley, Cononley, Glusburn and Cross Hills could not run that route one hour and the other hour run via Silsden.
The steps at the station are very treacherous when icy.  It would be nice to get to Skipton by bus.   The link bus from the station meets more trains from Leeds than Bradford.
I have to use my car to get to the public transportation; hence, there is no where to leave my vehicle SAFELY.
Work in bradford and the hopper is USELESS. Morning you are lucky if you get to the station on time especially if you are after the leeds train(admittedly it does seem better recently). In the evening the last hopper run leaves 1 minute before the bradford train arrives. At times you even get the pleasure of arriving at the station to see the hopper going off empty. If it was made to run 5mins earlier in the morning at 5 mins later in the evening you would have a service that was of some use (And probably cut down on the flood of cars that have to pick people up due to the lack of service)
Cost
Lack on bus and train integration
poor acces to railway, lack of direct buses to skipton
No direct bus route to Skipton
Buses to Skipton not frequent enough. Buses don't connect with trains or other buses
No direct Skipton or Leeds bus
Price, even taking into consideration tax, insurance and running costs a car is still cheaper and more convenient than public transport.
A LATER LAST TRAIN FROM LEEDS TO SKIPTON.
No safe pedestrian crossing for bypass to get to railway station. Could do with more parking at railway station.
The undercover waiting at the station is very limited. Connections with trains arriving can be 25 minute wait on station road. Steeton.  there is no enclosed shelter
Skipton
Lack of direct service, or even sensible connection to Skipton services
unable to conduct my business using public transport
no direct route to Bradford, ideally bus early enough to get into Bradford before 0645.
Skipton
Too expensive and don't run to Skipton often enough on a direct route.
Skipton
The cost of public transport is very high and buses are not regular enough
There isn't enough of it
Narrow footpaths to station and very hard to cross road by the island Busses too infrequent
No regular bus service to Skipton
Train station
buses are full
the buses do not match the trains.if you are on one of the last trains home you have to walk from the train station home as there are no buses or spend more money on a taxi.
Anywhere by train during the working week due to lack of parking space at station and poor bus/train coordination.
I work in Leeds. Expense of getting to the Steeton station then train to Leeds - then back again. I still need a car so I may as well use it to get to work. Its far cheaper than public transport if you still need a car anyway. Also, reliablity of public transport. Who wants to be on a bus / train after a VERY stressful day at work only to be harrassed by a drunk / drug haddled member of the public. Noisy unruly teens... No, I'll use my car thanks.
lack of parking at Steeton and Silsden station. No easy access to Skipton and the Dales
getting into skipton is crazy-why is ther no regular bus route?
The busy dual carriage way to cross to access Silsden/Steeton train station.
Narrow footpath on Keighley Road & dangerous crossings of dual carriageway to reach the railway station
dual carriage way to cross to reach train station to get to Leeds, Bradford, Keighley or Skipton. Skipton is almost impossible to reach by bus unless you start from Steeton or Addingham or catch 2 buses and wait inbetween, which considering how close Skipton is to Silsden, is ridiculous. It takes 2 buses to reach the hospital from Silsden except for the occasional hopper bus service. The main problem seems to be that if you live this side of the trunk road, you are cut off from the station or many bus services unless you are prepared to travel to get to Steeton or Addingham or Ilkley first, which adds on a lot of journey time, waiting time for connecting services - especially bad with a young child and in bad weather, and can cost more. When I do want to use the train I feel I have to catch a bus to Ilkley to join the Wharfedale line or having run across the busy dual carriage way with a pram, get a bus to get across the trunk road - therefore extra time   and cost incurred, and this is not always a foolproof option as the trains and bus drop off times do not match up particularly well in my experience. I feel disappointingly quite cut off in Silsden as far as the train is concerned and this somewhat true of the bus services too.
No safe access across bypass to steeton and silsden train station
they are no buses on silsden moor to use
I live 3 miles away from bus stop so by time I've got to bus stop I might as well have driven to my destination
its 2 mile to the nearest bus stop
price of bus fares and frequency
Skipton is slightly more difficult to access than it should be as there are very few direct services. Getting the bus to Slovenia is also rather tricky!
access to the train station
Cost
The lack of pedestrian-crossing on the bypass
Sometimes too cramped to get pushchair on and find an available seat.
After 18.00 the bus is not frequent between the railway station and silsden, when the weather is bad I am limited in the mobility.
Space for powerchair user when pushchairs etc occupy the space
I work in Silsden so do not usually need to use public transport
disabled wife, difficulty getting on and off buses and trains
poor links with the trains
Need a more regular bus service to Skipton
I am disabled and find using public transport difficult for many reasons but mainly because I cannot walk very far.
The distance to the railway station, and the bad access to it across a dual carriageway.
Frequency and ease of getting to and from Ilkley and Skipton.
There is no attempt to have buses arrive at the railway station to meet the trains, with the exception of the Jacksons service which meets occaisional trains.
I much prefer Skipton can't get to Skipton easily
Access between Silsden and Skipton by road
Silsden to Skipton by bus
poor service to skipton
We have three children so its quite difficult to use public transport.
I work in Silsden and have children at school in Silsden. I simply cannot balance this, but do use the train to get to Leeds when I can.
It is far too expensive to be worth the massive inconvenience factor
N/A I have my own transport
Skipton via bus
Cycle routes to the railway station
Buses to Skipton
for older people living away from the town centre and needing to shop, access the medical practice, library, link with other transport travelling through the town etc a smaller regular service even with a nominal charge would be a major asset
Not convenient at the times I wish to travel
A direct bus connection to Skipton from the town would be of help.
Trains are often cancelled.  Cannot rely on them sufficiently. No route to and from Skipton. Parking at Steeton / Silsden Railway Station.
Poor direct services on bus routes
Poor footpaths to Steeton/Silsden station. No cycle paths to station. Crossing the dual carriageway to get to station is VERY dangerous at peak times. Integration of buses with trains is non existent.
bus and trains coordinating at Steeton station
the bus times from silsden to steeton staition that dont match up with the trains. so you either just miss the train or have to wait ages to get the bus back to silsden  also a over pass or underpass is needed to cross the bypass instead of playing chicken with the heavy traffic flows and painted road just doesnt cut it!!!!!!
We need some form of crossing over/under dual carriageway to the railway station - very dangerous crossing the road at present
I would like to be able to visit Skipton without having to change buses or walking to Steeton Top
Timings of the buses in conjunction with the trains
Intend to use public transport more. I need to investigate what bus routes are available.
Location of my office is off a bus/train route. difficult to access via public transport
Getting to Skipton on the bus (except very early morning bus) is a joke. Times of buses could be better aligned with rail timetables to get to/from the station.
Parking at the station later in the day.
Drop-off points near the station. Skipton is difficult to get to.
Time, cost and convenience. My daily commute to work on the outskirts of Skipton would cost nearly twice as much, take twice as long and could only be done at specific times, plus would means braving often inclement weather on foot. I'm not critical of the public transport that's available as I just don't think it's practical to have a London-style network in a relatively low population density area.
Access to the Railway Station
Expensive
crossing the trunk road to get to the railway station
There is not enough parking at the railway station and too few convenient buses to and from the station.
The times of buses only 2 an hour to either Keighley or Ilkley, the train station to far to walk in bad weather and the cost of public transport.  A car is more convenient and at times costs less.
I travel into Lancashire and can only go by car as bus does not go route I need.
limited routes to Skipton at peak times.
No direct bus to Skipton. When I worked in Leeds I used the train which was great - aside from the lack of parking (car park too small / too many people from surrounding villages taking the train there). But working in Harrogate now driving is the only option.
Biggest issues are limited parking facilities at Steeton station, due to out of area passengers using station.
Crossing the road to the station - needs an underpass
The buses need to be in sync with the train times!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buses to SKIPTON
limited direct road public transport route to Skipton
No direct bus service between Silsden and Skipton
there are not enough buses to link with trains from silsden and crossing the by- pass on foot is very dangerous
access to train station- anyone with arthritis or any disability has a problem getting onto either platform unless in a car and onto the eastbound platform even in a car. After morning rush hour the car park is full all day, for other users who wish to park- often by people who do not live in Steeton or Silsden
Steeton and Silsden Railway station is not easily accessible due to no road crossing  Bradford Royal Infirmary v difficult to get to
can't go direct to skipton by bus to arrive for work for 9.00am would use bus instead of car
No direct bus service to Skipton. No safe road crossing facilities at roundabout on the dual carriageway.
Silsden to Skipton
frequency & poor tie up with trains.  Going to Skipton not straightforward
job requires car
Public transport does not run along side the shifts i work and I prfer to use my car
no transport that is direct to get to skipton
Coordination between buses for Steeton and Skipton.  Coordination between buses and trains
Shift work. Public transport generally running when attending work
Lack of buses to Skipton
bad conections for trains and no buses direct to Skipton
never co incides with trains!
Get the train to Leeds every day for work. Have to get a lift to the train station every day because there are not enough parking spaces at the station and the road to the station is too dangerous to cross at rush hour
Buses to and from the railway station not matching up with train arrival and departure times. More buses to Skipton. All the items I have ticked below as very likely.
Direct service to Skipton would inprove links.
I commute a considerable distance to work and have very small children which makes the use of public transport quite difficult
Frequency of bus service after 6.30 pm
crossing the bypass is a worry, the station seems very isolated at quiet times
Journeys usually longer than 15 miles, hence far easier to use the car. However, happy to use the bus in going to Keighley.
Having own transport so not necessary
time constraints
Cost and infrequent public transport
Lack of joined up service with buses to and from railway station
Cost, lack of regular service.
skipton
Bridge over bypass would see me going to say Leeds/Bradford by train more regularly
Lack of parking at the railway station during the day (full of commuter cars) and poor connections between buses and train times - especially to Leeds.   Infrequency of buses later in the evening.
Quicker and easier to use car for work. Access to rail station expensive on bus if no travel card and very dangerous to cross dual carriageway
no reason except convenience of using car
Steeton Station has very poor connections!!!!! Skipton services are limited. Expensive, cheaper to take a taxi in most cases!!
Steeton station buses to tie in with trains
lack of transportation links
I work in Cross Hills and there are no buses, trains that pass my place of work
Barclays Bank at Crosshills 2 Bus journeys there and back and poor connecdtions
I drive.
To expensive to use, If i travel to Skipton it is about the same price and less convenient than travelling via car.
lack of co ordination between rail and bus time tables.Secluded anture of rail station can be quite frightening at night. Inadequate parking at station. No indication at bus stops when next bus is due/has it gone etc
The main road to the train station is incredibly dangerous to walk along with young children. It is also of great concern that pedestrians can only cross to the station over a busy dual carriage way.
No longer use the train in the evening because of anti social behaviour.
Hours I works Vs Childcare
A bus to skipton would be handy
poor connections between buses and between also buses and trains
impracticle, no diresct route to Bingley from Silsden centre
railway station difficult to get to safely, busses make traffic overtake unresponsibly when the stop (roads too narrow)
My use of pulic transport is VERY occaisional because for the me the car is quicker and more convenient.
Silsden to Skipton by bus is difficult.  Bus service doesn't link up with train times.
Lack of parking during the day at Steeton station.  Would you train if I knew I could park
Steeton and Silsden station is a nightmare (and dangerous) to get to from Silsden for pedestrians, cyclists, and anyone carrying heavy or bulky items and not able to get to the last available weekday parking space at the station which fills at around 7.30am. Goodness knows how disabled people can cope with this station, especially if travelling Southbound. You obviously know this given the list of items below.  Good transport links exist to Keighley and Ilkley and onwards travel from there. Well done for that. Skipton is rather awkward to get to on public transport, just because the bus and train do not consistently tie up, so the journey time with bus/train seems long and expensive compared to simply getting on a bus going there.
bus and trains do not correlate. Getting home from train station always difficult
bua and train times do not coordinate, cost.
parking at the train station
i just tend to walk everywhere as travelling on a bus with a double pram and two young children is hard work and you dont get any help.
the road cutting off the station
Lack of cycle lane to train station, lack of crossing at bypass, lack of buses to Skipton
getting to skipton is an issue as the buses/trains do not coincide very well it would be better to have a frequent skipton-silsden bus
infrequent buses/routes.Having to use more than one bus to get to destination.
Cost, time and general condition's
Very difficult to get to Skipton on buses so only go to Keighley.  Very rarely use Train Station as its so difficult and extremely dangerous to cross over the bypass.
to skipton from silsden
Cannot carry back shopping on the bus! Cannot collect grandchildren or access their home by public transport If have to get to Station  walking ( at least 30 min) have to cross dual carriageway. As you get older do not want to wait around in all weathers especially if have to stand for long simply to get from A-B .
I would like to see a better bus service to and from Skipton. My daughter attends school in Skipton and 'after school ativities'  are restricted as there is such a limited bus service. The rail station is too far away and I would not be happy for her to cross the busy by-pass by herself. Also a direct regular bus service to Skipton would be useful for shopping and leisure trips.I would also like to see a bus service from Keighley to Harrogate passing through Silsden as I feel this would be well used by local residents as Harrogate is currently hard to access by public transport.
The poor services! Why does Silsden not have links to Skipton? It's a natural geographic and farming link that needs to be restored.
Through bus to Keighley/Ilkley - stop diversion arond estates
travellers going to leeds from steeton who want to leave a car n the car park have a long walk a.nd steep stairs to get to the leeds platform. no good for disabled
Last bus back from Keighley, 22.25, too early. Bring back 22.50.
I just prefer to use my own transport
Skipton
work locally so don't need public transport
I work a couple of miles outside Skipton.  There are only a couple of direct buses a day to Skipton.  I don't think it's West Yorkshire transport that's the problem - I can get anywhere in West Yorkshire quite easily.  It's North Yorkshire who have the issues.  The moment you want to cross the county border transport falls apart.  No wonder so many people from Skipton use Steeton & Silsden railway station.
Poor service between home and place of work
Station to meet trains
I work in Heaton Bradford and would need to travel on 3 buses to get to work and ahve to walk approx 1 mile due to lack of bus services in the area I work.
not reliable or frequest enough
Skipton is very difficult to reach from Silsden. More busses to and from skipton would be very beneficial.
Crossing 4 lanes of rush hour traffic on the way to/from the station.
Full car park at station,no bridge to cross the Aire Valley road,Settle to Carisle Train does not stop at silsden.
I have to drive to crossflats to park when using train to leeeds or bradford as steeton station spaces are limited. there is no bus between silsden and skipton, which means we have to drive or pay for taxis.
BUSES NAD TRAINS DONT MEET UP
Skipton, Halifax, Huddersfield all difficult to reach
Work in Bradford so too exspensive to use 6 days aweek work shifts
The Ilkley bus passes through silsden only hourly in the morning and is irregular. If I miss the 7:12 bus I then need to drive to work as there is a 72 minute gap till the next bus. Half hour buses during peak morning hours would be better. Also, if there were buses to Skipton I would take these, at the weekend, instead of using my car.
Buses badly timed with trains at Steeton & Silsen railway station; apalling lack of protection for pedestrians who have to cross the Aire Valley Trunk Road to get to Steeton & Silsden railway station
Crossing dual carriageway to station.
Buses to Skipton are rare and expensive.  Parking at the station is impossible.
It is difficult to reach Skipton by bus. I only like to use the train in daylight hours, as crossing the motorway in the dark is extremely dangerous
not co-ordinating with trains and no direct route to skipton.
Inadequate co-ordination of bus and train times. Skipton hard to reach by bus.
bus route from Silsden to Skipton
skipton
Only use public transport very rarely
Inability to guarantee being able to park at the station, with nowhere else to go in the limited time before train arrival.  Also, no realistic drop-off place, with baggage.
rely on own transport to Bolton Abbey every day
The cost of the train journey
A direct bus route to Skipton would be very useful.
Easy access to the rail station and crossing the road on foot
the bypass to rail station and that is is not manned on dark nights
There is no bus route which runs direct to Leeds from Silsden this is a major issue if there are problems with the train service. At the very least a coach service should be available.
No direct transport to my place of work & also have to use car for work purposes
When I have luggage/bags/equipment to carry there is often not room on a bus or train.  The buses going through Silsden often do not meet train times arriving in or departing from Steeton and Silsden railway station.  These need to be more integrated.
no bus route from Silsden to my place of work; bus fares expensive
Bus between Silsden and Skipton!!
I work in Laycock, too hard to reach by public transport
Run fully expensed company car so no need to use public transport
I work 17 miles away so do not expect direct links to the airport!
none
Use a wheelchair?!!
None.
Bus route from Silsden to Skipton.
Lack of parking for Bradford Met residents at station. No easy access to Skipton and beyond. Protection from weather at some bus stops.
As walkers we walk out and bus back to Ilkley - Keighley but Skipton we change at Shellon and often walk from there home as buses do not tie up always. There is a no.70 from Skipton at 5.35 Mon-Fri which may be scrapped and this was excellent as it come to Blackley and Silsden.
There is no bus to Skipton.
Regular hopper type bus to Steeton Silsden station to suit train times in the mornings to Leeds or Bradford and the reverse in the evening back to Silsden.
See Q18 below.
Skipton.
I would walk to work if I dared to cross the by-pass.
No direct link to Skipton. Steeton and Silsden station difficult to access by bus (steps crossing road) and big gap at platform dangerous. I use Ilkley station to get to Leeds.
Not many buses to Skipton but fine as I get train instead.
Time.
Regular buses to Skipton would be useful. Crossing the main road to reach the railway station is difficult, A footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists would be helpful.
It is impossible to use the station car park after 8am Monday - Friday as commuters from Skipton use this facility.
Skipton and Airedale Hospital.
Crossing the bypass! Bus to Skipton would be useful. The footpaths to the station are too narrow.
Any destination that isn't Keighley or Ilkley.
Parking.
It would be good to have a regular bus timetable posted through letter boxes.
Skipton later in the day.
No Skipton bus service - therefore always drive to Skipton.
Bus and train times don't tally. Parking not possible at station after a certain time either.
Skipton.
I have heavy things to carry to and from work every day so public transport not an option. Journey would also involve quite a distance to walk on both ends and 2 bus journeys.
Never know bus times.
Destinations. Frequency of trips out. Fact I have 2 children.
Disabled.
Unable to park at Steeton station to catch train as people from North Yorkshire etc take advantage of subsidised fares. Difficult to get to Airedale Hospital and Skipton as buses do not connect.
Hours I work as sometimes unsocialable.
I walk to my place of work.
Access to the Leeds bound platform at the railway station is a joke. If a bridge cannot be built over the dual carriageway then a set of pedestrian controlled lights are urgently needed.
Parking at the station. Disabled access at the station is non-existent. You can't avoid using the steps.
Skipton trip and return no use.
Exceedingly difficult to reach the station. Crossing the A629 is not something that the elderly, children or families with children can happily contemplate doing.
A basic lack of buses to and from Silsden. They never interlink with trains without a long wait on the platform. Plus buses don't link us with Skipton, Bradley etc. The public bus service could be good. If only...
Difficult from Silsden to Skipton.
Bus links with trains.
Skipton.
Skipton.
Cost.
Can ever park at the station after 7.10am. No buses to Skipton.
Don't know what services are available, and currently used to using my car.
Bypass between Silsden and Steeton makes crossing to railway station impossible by foot and very dangerous on bicycle.
Too expensive.
Bus and train times, companies need to work more closely.
No services to Skipton.
Would like two buses to get to work and take too long!! (Work at Crossflats).
Skipton.
Skipton is very difficult to get to.
Removal of bus route around Ingsway area.
Have own car.
Don't know where bus stops or starts around Ingsway. There are no timetables or bus stops.
Not very frequent service since we lost hoppa (713). Can't get into Keighley as much as have health/mobility issues, too far to get bus from main road.
Skipton, no direct route from Silsden, you have to catch a bus to Steeton and then change or get a bus to the train station. I would use public transport more if there was a better option.
Great danger crossing new trunk road to get to the station, needs an underpass or a footbridge.
Skipton direction.
I am bad at walking and always use the Jackson's bus or I would not get out at all, for my shopping.
I need car for my work as I travel around district from hospital.
Have a car at the moment will need transport eventually, the station we need a footbridge over the bypass road.
Very limited service to Skipton. Don’t understand why Ilkley bus service uses a different route every 30 minutes. Buses don’t link with train at Steeton station. Parking at Steeton station is very poor.
Isolation of platform areas at rail station very unsafe feeling.
Cannot go to Skipton direct. Better services round waterside.
Unable to visit family using public transport due to there not being a direct enough route.
None it is great.
Health reason.
No barriers, just drive everywhere or walk.
Taking the hopper bus off, long walk from town up to where I live if been shopping in Keighley and have shopping to carry it has been greatly missed.
Skipton, due to poor coordination between buses at Steeton.
A better connection between bus and train possibly a better service to Skipton.
Prefer car.
No direct route to Skipton. Inadequate parking at railway station.
Skipton is difficult to get to with no direct link by bus. Also no connection to the Dales bus service.
No direct links to Skipton.
Difficulty of travelling to Skipton by bus from Silsden.
Walking to Steeton rail station - car park often full. Getting to Skipton and beyond direct. Perhaps 1 extra bus each hour would help.
Too far to railway station to walk, and no parking after 7.30am on a weekday morning means its impossible to get the train without paying for a taxi both ways.
Much prefer to go into Skipton, but the transport system is virtually non existent bus wise and getting to Steeton station is a taxi ride on top of a train fare, so not as convenient or cost effective as a bus.
Mobility.
Limited bus routes to Skipton.
Skipton requires 2 buses and take 1-2 hours.
None.
Travelling direct Silsden to Skipton by bus.
Skipton.
Skipton has no direct bus service to and from Silsden. Accessing Steeton Station to travel to Bradford - Leeds direction is difficult there is no where to stop a car to drop off a would be passenger.
I drive so I only use train very rarely.
Infrequency of buses and cost.
No.
No barriers have own car.
The buses to and from Silsden don’t connect with the trains to and from Leeds.
Reaching Airedale hospital to start work at 8:30am.
Buses too infrequent don’t meet trains or buses at Steeton. Expensive for family travel.
Living on Waterside the bus service is not very frequent and as I have difficulty walking cannot manage to walk to centre of Silsden to get bus. So have to rely on friends/family for lifts. Son uses buses to get to work in Ilkley.
Buses to train station need to be more frequent and coordinated to both Leeds and Bradford trains (to and from). If I start work later I cannot find room in car park after 7:30/7:45 so have to drive into Bradford.
2 small children including pushchairs - easier to drive. Silsden to Skipton on bus requires change in Keighley.
Car parking and access to the station.
Cost. Skipton no bus service direct.
Expense and convenience.
Skipton.
I have a car.
Skipton.
Skipton.
Difficult to get to Skipton by bus.
Lack of service to Skipton from Silsden. Lack of sensible timing of bus to station to connect with Leeds train.
Silsden to Skipton bus not regular. Expensive bus fares.
It is very dangerous crossing bypass to get to train station which is meant to be for Silsden as well.
Silsden to Skipton route. I'm a car user.
Difficult to reach health centre/Skipton. Public transport to health centre best suits residents of Keighley. No wonder people suffer from high blood pressure having to walk or take taxi's there. Because Jackson's don’t run on Sundays/bank holidays or late evenings we are stranded.
Skipton - have to go via Steeton to get public transport.
A bus from Silsden to Skipton (regular).
Cost (if you have your own transport its cheaper to use that). Keighley - Ilkley ok but to get to Skipton can take a very long time.
Lack of flexibility in timetable. Price.
I work in Eastburn and there is no bus service there.
Quite hard to get to Skipton by public transport.
If there was a regular bus service to Skipton this would be great.
Silsden to Cross Hills. Silsden to Skipton.
Buses not running regular to Keighley. Ilkley and Skipton and beyond.
Would like a regular bus service to Skipton.
Unable to get on buses because of excess number of people travelling free. Need service to call regularly at Airedale (Jackson's bus does not take K-day tickets). Need a service just to Silsden along with Ilkley/Skipton services.
There is no direct bus service to Skipton from Silsden and the Skipton bus from Keighley usually goes through Steeton as the bus from Silsden approaches Steeton.
As I live on Waterside only 2 pick up per day go to Ilkley. It is impractical to have to walk from Silsden with all my shopping.
Parking at Steeton/Silsden trains station.
Foul mouthed school kids or youths.
Skipton is difficult by bus as no through route. Also buses and trains don’t often link.
Don’t use it as we have a car.
Buses not frequent enough and the route changes on an evening. The times for transfer from bus to train at Steeton and Silsden.
Having to walk from Howden side, no transport this side of village.
The cost of public transport is becoming increasingly expensive. Sometimes the train that we want wont stop at our stop, so we have to wait quite a while for the next one.
Poor bus links to Skipton, costs too much to get the bus to Addingham for an adult.
It would be difficult to fit in with rigid bus timetables.
Insufficient car parking space at Steeton/Silsden railway station. Hopper bus service to Keighley from Waterside is too infrequent.
The pathetic service provided by Jackson's needs to be improved or replaced by one similar to that which Metro used to run. Two examples; the 8:00 service to the station is so unreliable for the Bradford 8:08 that users need other arrangements and the 6:00 departure from the station which excluded passengers from the Bradford train – even though it often runs late it is useless for Bradford commuters. And we are part of Bradford. Services to Keighley/station from the Howden Road side of Silsden are minuscule compared with those on the west side. Presumably more councillors are resident on that side of Silsden.
Steeton - Silsden bypass roundabout.
Regular service to the railway station.
The Craven Drive/Howden Road/Waterside area could benefit from more frequent service especially when compared with the Dradishaw Road service.
Same as the last 20 years, bad connections for trains to Bradford-Leeds, and bus connection to Skipton.
I prefer to cycle when ever possible.
No barriers at all. We have used public transport all the time since selling the car in1979. You can get to Skipton via Addingham and/or by train.
Distance to station necessitates use of a taxi.
I can only use buses that pass through Silsden I.e. Keighley, Ilkley. Due to poor sight I find it difficult to travel further. The hospital is difficult to reach (Jackson's do not always coincide with appointments). Any where else is difficult I.e. Skipton is two buses and a dangerous road to cross.
Due to the Silsden hopper service to Keighley has been reduced over the last few years and this means I have to set off 15-20 minutes before my bus is due to reach the bus stop.
Disability and ill health.
Cannot park car at Steeton station so therefore have to drive to Ilkley to use train to Leeds after 9:00am.
Work requires me to carry equipment so need a car.
No regular bus to Skipton. Buses do not coordinate with trains. It is difficult and quite dangerous to cross the roundabout en route to train station.
Skipton is very inconvenient to reach and time consuming. Silsden to Keighley bus then Keighley to Skipton or change at Steeton and wait 20 minutes in the cold.
Only use the train and commute by car to Saltaire to use this facility as there is nowhere nearer that provided sufficient parking. Buses are too infrequent and have limited routes. Feel unsafe travelling by public transport in the evening.
Lack of service to Waterside area and poor service to Keighley and Ilkley. A service to Skipton would be good. More coordination between trains and buses.
Crossing the bypass to get to the train station from Silsden (by foot) is lethal at rush hour.
More sheltered bus stops. Would like to be able to travel to Skipton direct.
Taking the bus off from parts of Silsden, Howden, Ings Way areas for older people.
Mainly the inability to carry shopping on to, and off public transport.
No direct access by bus to Skipton. Lack of coordination between buses and trains.
No direct bus to Skipton or Leeds.
Crossing the dual carriageway from the station. Lack of direct bus to Skipton.
Yeadon Airport especially early morning and late night. It is a major airport I use a lot to get away from Silsden.
Limited bus services. Whilst the Jackson's bus service is a valuable asset to Silsden a more frequent service in line with train times.
Skipton.
Love to go into Skipton but very limited service not straight from Silsden.
Lack of coordination between train and bus times. Morecambe/Lancaster and Settle/Carlisle trains to stop at Silsden.
Sutton, Cross Hills, Skipton difficult. Alter the hopper service to go to these destinations rather than just Addingham - Airedale Hospital.
Its awkward to get to Skipton by bus.
I cannot now walk to the bus stop from Bradley Grove to Skipton Road.
Lack of joined up service between buses and trains. Safer parking at Steeton and Silsden station. Safer crossing from Silsden to station.
Skipton difficult to reach.
From Silsden to Skipton.
Bus times do not tie in with trains at Steeton and Silsden station. No through bus to Skipton.
It is hard to get to Skipton which I would like to visit more often. Car parking there is expensive and not very central. Also, as an inhabitant of park green, I am lucky to be able to go to Keighley every half an hour but to return it is only hourly. As it passes back along Dradishaw Road anyway, I don't understand the logic of making such a walk up from Dradishaw especially if one has heavy bags to carry or if the weather if foul.
No busses to Skipton that are suitable for commuters.
Parking at the train station - lack of it.
To get to Skipton.
Getting to Skipton.
Poor bus connection between Silsden and train station. No bus service directly to Skipton.
Getting to the station dangerous crossing the dual carriageway by the roundabout.
Crossing the bypass to get to the station is very dangerous. There should be a tunnel on bridge considering there is a station on the other side.
Lack of transport to Skipton. This is a big problem.
Trains are very expensive, over crowded.
No bus to Skipton from Silsden.
Travel to Skipton on buses takes forever via Steeton etc. buses, not enough direct services. Crossing road at Steeton for trains is too dangerous with your kids.
Would like a direct route to Skipton. It is very difficult having to go to Steeton or Addingham and change there. Need a safe crossing over the main bypass to get to the railway station.
None really. Just have own transport.
I work in Skipton and my son goes to school in Skipton but we have a very bad problem getting a direct bus from Silsden to Skipton. There really should be more direct bus services so that we can get to work and school on time. This reduced traffic congestion too.
I work in Eastby and would have to get a bus from Silsden to Skipton and then to Eastby on another bus. Life is too short.
So far, my daughter has not found any difficulties with pubic transport and has felt fortunate when comparing to that available where we lived previously.
Silsden to Skipton. Skipton to Silsden.
No barriers (car driver).
Own transport. More handy.
I am disabled, walk 50 yards max use my car for mobility.
Am ok on train and get taxi's - feel safer and quicker.
Disability.
Skipton.
We understand the problems with cross country bus travel but we feel there should be stronger links between Silsden and Skipton.
There needs to be a more frequent bus service to Skipton return direct.
It would be good now and again to use my pass during the weekends before 9:30.
Times of buses to catch train.
Access to Skipton can only be made by car during the day.
Use of a works vehicle (builders truck or van).
I used my car but I think a half hourly bus service during the day is sufficient. Probably a more frequent service to Skipton should be considered.
I do use train to Leeds. I avoid as much public transport as I can due to antisocial behaviour by young idiots who spoil the enjoyment for all. 2 personal bad experiences have meant I use it as a last resort.
Could do with a bus service to Skipton.
Lack of a through service to Skipton. Crossing of dual carriageway to access railway station.
Access to Steeton/Silsden train station. No bus service Silsden to Skipton.
Difficult getting to Skipton.
We wouldn’t use the railway because to cross the bypass you have to run and we can not run.
No bus service to Skipton.
No direct service to Cross Hills or Skipton. Keighley/Ilkley buses to route through estates more regularly. Concerns of security at Steeton rail station. Limited on available parking at Steeton rail station.
Have my own car and use the trains very rarely.
There is no bus to Keighley and back from Waterside between 12:00-15:00. Jackson's bus goes only twice to Keighley but we can't get a return up here in the afternoon.
To and from train station.
Disabled difficult to get on buses etc.
Limited services to Skipton.
The journey from the top of Howden Road to the health centre. No through journey at any time.
Skipton bus would be nice.
limited number of buses to Skipton. Silsden/Steeton railway station difficult to access on foot because of need to cross very busy trunk road - 4 lanes of traffic.
I use my own car.
Relating to Skipton via Silsden would be very helpful as connection at Steeton top just missed in both direction meaning half an hours wait to Skipton and return to Silsden at Steeton top.
So sorry that they took off the Silsden to Skipton bus even a couple a day would be nice even after early morning peak times.
None.
Bus to station.
More regular buses to Skipton and back would be nice.
Car parking for trains.
None.
The buses do not run in time with trains to Leads, which is a shame.
It would be nice to get a direct but to Skipton.
Not enough on time buses to train station. Trains are never on time and there is no where warm and dry to wait at Silsden Train Station. Last train back from Leeds is not late enough. Parking at Silsden Train Station.
No regular bus service on Waterside apart from Jackson, long walk from Elliott Street.
I find so tiring and stressful to get anywhere from Silsden, Keighley, Skipton, Holworth and may other destination I would like to visit Leeds I am trapped.
The dual carriageway is a disaster for pedestrians, can’t allow kids to go to the station on their own, underpass fro sheep but not for people.
Skipton as two busses are necessary.
Skipton, no regular busses. Also busses too Ilkley and Keighley are infrequent on an evening, maybe smaller busses could be introduced.
Silsden to Skipton.
Skipton seems to have very limited transport from Silsden.
Time parting at the station not guaranteed at peak times, would use train more for work if I knew I could park.
The distance to the train station is prohibitive and the bus route seems to take a life time.
The main barrier in using and otherwise very convenient train service is crossing dual carriageway. A pedestrian bridge is essential. I think 9.30am is too late to decrease fares, or the time should be according to expected arrival time at destination. The bus, train I often need to use to get to Ilkley, Leeds by about 10am get to my stop at 9.27am meaning higher fares than anyone at next stop.
I choose the moment not to use public transport.
Difficulty in travelling by public transport, bus, from Silsden towards Skipton.
If I used the train to go to work there is no parking at station. So I would have to walk which I don’t mind but crossing the bypass at a busy time is too dangerous.
Transport to Skipton.
No direct link to Skipton by bus.
Destinations to Skipton at all times.
Skipton very difficult to reach by bus.
Difficult to get to Skipton, have to go via Keighley or Ilkley, buses do not connect e.g. at Steeton. Services from Silsden to Keighley and Ilkley are very good, appreciated. At Ilkley station, buses do not connect with incoming Leeds train. Bus pulls out as train comes in.
Car parking at Steeton Station is hopeless for anyone wanting to go to Leeds on the train. The lack of a bus service from Silsden to Skipton prevents regular trips unless using own car.
Direct bus route to Skipton would save having to get to the rail station.
Need a bus service to Skipton more regularly. Timetables should connect with Leeds train, to and from to encourage shoppers.
Not enough busses, Hopper. Difficult to reach, Lancashire, Skipton.
Skipton.
It is very difficult to get to AGH for a 7:30 start and home on a 20:30 finish. It is ridiculous that to get to Skipton you have to travel into Keighley to return back into Skipton, sometimes up to three buses are required. Why can we not have a direct service?
The Howden Road side of Silsden only has limited public transport, provided by Jackson which is really appreciated. It is not enough, trips to Keighley are limited and to be able to use the service to return one has to either rush or wait in Keighley for a long time. If you use the Keighley to Ilkley service it is a long walk with shopping to get home. We have a lot of older people on this side of Silsden.
Times of buses in relation to trains to Leeds and Bradford.
Cost only.
We find it hard to go shopping in Skipton since they took the 9:30 Silsden to Skipton off, we now have to go to Keighley to get to Skipton. As my wife is bad at walking and finds is hard to cross the road at Steeton top.
Skipton is difficult to reach during the day time.
Skipton is the only difficult place to reach. The buses from Ilkley reach Steeton just in time to miss the Skipton bus and vice versa. We could do with a direct service from Silsden about four times a day.
The cost, no coordination between bus and train. Getting to Skipton. Lack of bus shelters when bad weather. Evening bus service and Sundays.
I work at Airedale Hospital and I have to take my car or walking there are no buses at the start or end of my working day.
Work - buses don’t go where my place of employment is. Would need 2 buses.
When I go to work its at the same time as when the elderly start to use buses cant get a seat for non payers.
Difficult to get to Skipton.
903 Airedale Hospital bus is not allowed to pick in Woodside Road, Dradishaw Road, Skipton Road. But can drop passengers off. I've made phone enquires to Harrogate but no one seems to know/ Bus to Skipton which was withdrawn.
No direct bus to Skipton. Suicide to reach rail station - why is there no bridge over the bypass.
A better service to Skipton.
Is there still a through bud to Skipton (there used to be). Sometimes a change at Steeton for Skipton is a little awkward for older residents.
None.
Due to a medical problem with my spine it is not practical to wait for buses I therefore use my car.
I would like a bus to Skipton put back.
Availability - routes.
You have to walk half way up Craven Drive for a bus because of the parking by the Toyota garage.
The distance to Skipton, and poor connections between buses and trains most deter many from using rail station. Also the crossing of the dual carriageway to access station - why do we not have a footbridge/
Price.
Disabled.
The cost.
Train station (Steeton and Silsden) difficult to cross busy road to get there. Not safe to cross with small children and pushchair.
I think getting a parking spot at the train station at Steeton is becoming a problem and this is a barrier in itself. I'm happy with the train service. I don’t use the buses much.
Skipton.
Skipton is difficult to reach by bus, especially at weekends.
Difficult to get to Skipton by bus.
Very poor linking between buses and Leeds trains,. Poor bus service to Skipton. Pedestrian access to parking at station are a problem.
Not enough parking at Steeton and Silsden station which means having to travel to Ilkley to catch the train. It would be great if there was a cycle path to station as then I would strongly consider cycling there and leave my bike instead.
Totally inaccessible for me - work time/travelling times.
All areas are well covered by public transport other than the Dales National Park.
Limited 903 bus to Keighley. A 2 hourly service would be good. Frequency and timing of buses to Airedale Hospital could be improved to fit in with visiting hours. A direct service to Skipton.
None - car diver.
Skipton.
My own limited mobility.
I think the bus service is very good. I have used it from time to time and it's easy to find the bus stops.
Cannot get to Skipton since service cancelled.
No buses to Skipton.
The main concern for me is the problem getting to Skipton from Silsden.
Link to Skipton used to be useful.
Airedale Hospital. Skipton.
Difficulty coordinating buses on our Silsden areas with otherwise good service passing through Silsden centre to other destinations - for older people.
All Ok for us.
Skipton.
Skipton.
Silsden to Crosshills. Bus to Burnley missed Ilkley bus by 8 minutes at Steeton Top. Skipton bus misses Ilkley bus by 3 mins at Steeton Top.
Poor service to Skipton from Silsden.
Infrequent buses to Craven Drive, Aireville Drive and Waterside areas of Silsden. All Ilkley buses go via Gloucester Avenue, only Jackson's Hopper bus to stated areas, which are infrequent.
Silsden.
Easier to use my car.
Skipton.
Eastburn.
Disabled and partial sighted.
It's almost a coffee and sandwich trip to go to Skipton.
Regular bus from Silsden to Skipton. Co-ordination of bus and train at Ilkley station. Co-ordination of Silsden bus and Skipton bus at Steeton station.
Skipton very difficult.
Silsden to Skipton.
Drivers setting back off (regularly) before one gets off! I was sent flying backwards, before Christmas, up Bolton Road onto my already severe bad back!
Bus to station. Bus to Skipton. Connection Colne at Steeton.
Pedestrian access to railway station. Inadequate parking at railway station. Fare costs are high. Poor bus/rail links to village and railway.
Getting to and from Skipton.
Buses to Airedale Hospital few and far between. Do not coincide with appointments - have to get taxis both ways (expensive) even for visiting. Only alternative go into Kghly (stops at top) no good for disabled, elderly etc.  No direct bus to Skipton - could be hospital appointment (no chance).
Ease of travel to Skipton.
None, I've got personal transport.
I'm limited with walking - but no particular barriers prevent me.
Work out of town (Knaresborough). Car driver.
None. We have a car.
Bus/rail connection at Ilkley and Silsden. Direct bus to Skipton.
Buses to Skipton, not enough service.
Cost is outrageous. Doesn't encourage me to leave my car at home.
Trains returning from Leeds and Bradford or even Skipton don't run late enough.
Skipton!
Skipton.
Have a car.
Skipton.
