case Please list any places in Silsden where you think there i...    Park   Town Centre   Food Outlets    Recycle Skips  Open Spaces     Canal    Beck  Open response for  others
No places: problems are caused by lazy people
I have taken part in two clean up days and more are planned
the park around the skate park and the beck
Aire view, New road, The Green, Skipton road.
top of rugby pitch
SKIPTON ROAD
Dog fouling is the worst around the schools & main road such as Skipton Road & Howden Road.
By the back of the duck pond, behind the takeaways....rats
Top of the park,a litter bin should be place where the seating area is
howden road, the park, belton road ,kirkgate, briggate and by the coop
the beck though volunteers have just done a good tidying up job
all of it
All roads and streets
Litter is less of an issue than dog fouling -new road & aire view are disgusting as well as the park.
Howden Road.
There is a particular problem alongside country lanes around the town, at the town end of Howden Road and along the canal bank
The Beck between the park and the post office
Ings way, Hainsworth road, canal paths, path across field adjacent to Howden Road, Light bank lane, bypass, Howden Road Centre off Silsden, in the canal , Brunthwaite Lane fly tipping.
Anywhere you people congregate, they regard it as 'not cool' to put their litter in a bin. Perhaps a blitz by a litter warden with the ability to levy a fine could have an impact?
the beck and weer, beck in the park, canal
Centre
There is a general problem throughout the town. Lack of cleaning results in litter being blown into vegetation.
Silsden Beck, especially from Bolton Road to Howden  Road
Along the becks(especially near the park), and the edge of the fields along Keighley road. (they create a bad image of our village)
The beck through town
The beck running through the park and Keighley Road area coming into the village near the sports centre.  Lot of cans and bottles left lying around
all
rubbish dumped in the beck at Kirkgate
I can't complete the survey without mentioning dog fouling. Very annoying and affecting many streets in the town.
Back Lane , Briggate ( on Sunday mornings )
Problems of dog muck on the pavements on Ings way
On the roadside coming into the green belt.  Also, on the countryside footpaths there is too much litter.
Around Clog Bridge
near food takeaways , smokers corners, park, becks,
The stream and duck pond.
Top end of Skipton Rd
Dog fouling in Silsden is the worst I have ever experienced.  Education and fines might help.
DOG FOULING AND LITTER IN GENERAL.
The park
town centre
down mitchell lane
Main street
footpaths. parks.
Church Yard & Cemetry
Dradishaw Road near the bus stop and the end of the slope to kent avenue, Snicket ways especially the one on Dradishaw Road leading to Elm Grove as there have been needles found around that snicket.
duck area near post office.
I do not think Silsden has a problem with litter
Around the beck, especially near the Coop Dog muck EVERYWHERE
Dog fouling is a major problem around Howden Rd, Waterside and Brunthwiate Lane.  There are no bins for the people who do pick up their dog's mess to put the bags in, therefore they get thrown into the hedges and roadside where the bags hang or lie for ages.
canal bank and footpaths. Full dog bags discarded in hedges and on canal bank. This is worse than leaving the dropping where they land and letting nature take care of it.
more problem with dog fouling
All areas have an issue with litter. Bins help but kids, teens and some adults would rather throw litter on the floor. Nothing but community action will stop this in the form of fines from PCSO's and residents reporting people for doing it.
Park, streets,
The main Beck and stream from the park to the Canal.
main street and near the takeaways
HOWDEN ROAD AND INGS WAY
The moors all up Bradley Road and surrounding roads

beck, park after 'Cardboard' Sledging
The beck by the post office (duck pond).
The park
Silsden in general, but mainly close to takeaways and pubs, and in the park.  Prosecute litter louts.
Occasionally around the litter bin at AireView Stores. Dog fouling more of a problem on New Road
All over
footpath on the edge of park, leading to mitchel lane
the steps from bolton road down to the co-op via the old and new shop the park, skate park and the main park the memorial garden and library
Dog fouling along Keighley Road and surrounding side streets
Dog fouling. Fly tipping around the canal area.
Areas of the canal bank and the canal itself.
Brunthwaite Bridge area, although there is a litter bin The youngsters do not use it.
Dog waste up howden road
On Southview terrace due to sweet wrappers etc from shop at bottom
The park and beck area for litter and most pavements for dog fouling
the park and cemetarys
dog dirt on most local paths and the park.
Not litter - Dog fouling is a huge problem
There's a huge problem with dog fouling and cars parked on pavements
The beck near the skateboard area in park
Park Side of the beck through the town
Around the childrens play area , the skate park
The area around the post office / chip shop and the river at that point
Dog fouling most pavements and link paths.  Particulalry just off the main routes.  One track emerging onto Skipton Road OS Grid Ref SE 033 465 is particularly bad.  Also path from Beck / Post Office to Park.
Alot of rubbish (thrown from moving cars and parked up) along Brunthwaite Lane.
over the past year a certain dog walker has been leaving and throwing there dog bags and litter in to the yorkshire water site in the snicket between park green and skipton road. its not pleasant and has allways been a tidy and clean snicket till recent days!!!
The beck
The beck and park
Silsden Park, usually the morning after young people have been there during the light evenings.
Kirkgate
Snickets and the beck with bottles and cans being thrown in. Outside the Co-op & sunnybank social club is messy.
Outside fast food places.
On the banks of the canals and the River Aire
Around the fast food outlets in Kirkgate
Most of Silsden but Dog dirt to me is more of a problem than litter
Hillcreast Avenue
dog fouling in the whole length of skipton road and woodside road
If relevant in this section: dog fouling on Bradley Road
St.Johns St.
The approach to Silsden on the Keighley road. The tacky ugle shabby painted balls make you feel you are approaching a dump.
Litter Bins on Elliot Street
beck areas, by the canal towpath
rocks and ramps skatreboard park, silsden beck at the bottom of the park all down to the bridge on Howden Road, the main street where the takeaways are.
The centre littred with general rubbish and the snickets littered with alcohol and pop bottles
the beck, the canal
Belton road
Woodside road and NO bins for dog mess hence it is all over the streets
Park and Memorial gardens
around the corner from the co-op under the bushes on spencer avenue also i think the club is involved with the litter
The beck, the park, under the canal in Hainsworth Road.
Snicket by playing fields
Top of Howden Road, public foot path leading across Farmers fields down to Brunthwaite Bridge Lane
No particular area. Just here and there makes place look tatty. Need to encourage people to be more mindful and appreciate their surroundings.  Maybe start encouraging kids at school to be more aware.
The Park.    The steps between Bolton Road and Stirling Street.     The bottom of North Street.
everywhere!!
New Road, Hothfield Street
the park
The footpaths are littered with dog dirt.
high street and around the beck under the cancel bridge
the beck and the canal bank
Top of skipton road before turning onto woodside
dog poo down southview terrace, more fines, patrolling
near to both schools
Around the co-op, general untidyness of town center
approach to silsden from by pass, beck with rubbish. dog dirt and rubbish in park
Silsden is reasonable clean
Canal towpath sometimes, alleyway from bottom of park to Craven Avenue/Drive, beckside through Silsden and all the way down to the Aire Valley Road.
Takeaways
canal bank dog poo!
Hainsworth Road, Brunthwaite Bridge Lane Brownbank Lane Canal Paths (sometimes) Around Town Beck (sometimes) Silsden Brow/wood above Spencer Ave - last summer we reported the total devastation of this wood by youths drinking & partying. It is unbelievable-hundreds of smashed beer bottles, coke cans, pop bottles, plastic bags etc, many in the stream to flow in to our rivers & seas. Plus vandalism to trees & we even had to dowse a fire that had been left smouldering!!!!!! I would be happy to be involved in a 'Clean Up' Day/Week - ANYTHING to clear up this catastrophe. It would be an imposible task to attempt alone due to the sheer scale of the devastation.
The Brow - serious devastation by youths - broken bottles, rubbish, cans, bags etc, fires, damage to trees. Rubbish & dog dirt to outlaying roads ie Hainsworth Road
High Street, Howden Road, my hedge
Dog walkers putting their bags in anybodies bin, sometimes they even ignore the dirt.
The park and beck.
In the hedgerows.  If these things were looked at in aregular way the extras would not be necessary. Get the young ones motivated with a clean up and then a disco - new friends would be made and new values learned - look at things as a WHOLE.
Park and country roads especially dog poo. Bus stops.
Silsden Beck - Recreation field
Paths leading to the park, the beck at the bottom of the park, the park and around and in the duck pond
in the park in the morning in summer after the teenagers have spent the evening before drinking and eating takeaways and leaving their rubbish
There needs to be more dog poo bins
The litter warden should also have the facilities to clear up dog fouling and to be able to report inconsiderate dog ownres. Regular spring cleaning days need to be very well publised.
Bins in and around memorial gardens and car park often seem full, hence litter seems to be more common there.
outside library and around skateboard park.
park around skate park area. Kids need to pick up there own litter
Park/playing fields
canal paths and areas around the canal
In the park (often pick up litter) Around the co-op Fly tipping on top road above Brunthwaite.
I have placed a 'tick' in more frequent road sweeping because of the disgusting amount of dog fouling which seems to continue unchecked.
The park
Dog fouling in many areas of Silsden is totally unacceptable. Are any culprits ever fined?
Around the centre - post office bridge and beck and around the takeaways
park and churchyard
Generally in the quieter areas such as the snickets and the canal
the old factory by silsden afc club
Area round the Coop and Skipton Road
Takeaways
PARK - It is a great shame that we have a lovely childrens play area in the park where significant money has been spent in recent years to improve it, yet it is spoilt by the large amount of litter that always seems to be around the park. Pity that the beck also attracts a lot of dumped litter. DOG POO - Seems to be a problem everywhere is Silsden and really does spoil the look of Silsden as well as being an annoyance, and health hazard for my children. An employed litter warden who could issue fines for littering & dog fouling would surely pay for itself in the money generated from the fines.
Park, Howden Road (grassed areas between Snugpak and Daisy Hill
everywhere down the main street/car park by re-cycling bings
All over Silsden there are problems with litter and dog fowling. There should be a greater presence of wardens who are visibly seen catching and fining offenders to discourage others from doing the same.
As I cycle along Hainsworth Rd quote often I notice the once lovely hedgerows are polluted by dog mess bags thrown away and left hanging in the bushes.
Main street on a weekend.
Beck  Co-op
The park, especially in summer due to groups of youths leaving piles of rubbish around football pitch banking. There is often a considerable amount of litter in this area. We would like to see litter laws being properly enforced as currently there is no consequence for those who drop litter.
On bin days - the crews don't care what they drop
Everywhere
Everywhere
Beck
Mitchell Lane and the entrance to the park by the Rocks & Radars. Land outside Twisters / Cobbydale Club especially cigarette butts. Entrance to the Park from Bolton Road through main gates. Biggest issue is dog fouling and this is down to the lack of doggy bins in Silsden and ignorance of dog owners. Doggy bins should be places at start and finish points of regular walks around Silsden e.g. onto & off canal bank. The cemetary is also an issue with people walking dogs and again not cleaning up. This should be a dog free zone!
The beck under the bridge that leads to the park is always littered with rubbish, beer cans etc
The park, the bushes in the co-op car park.
Shed side. We once had an employed litter picker/sweeper and the town looked better then.
The beck near to the childrens play area in the park also the weir near the ford.
around all the unwanted takeaways
Roadside to Bradley
out side of pubs and takeaways the park main street
near recycling centre, some areas of park and near beck
The park, memorial gardens and rocks and ramps
The beck near the childrens play area in the park. Also the duck/weir area.
The beck close to the Skate Board park is always full of litter whihc is a pity as this is one of the main entrances to the park.
The park and centre of town beck
dog fouling on tufton street and new road is a problem
Beck
sk
throughout the town. The extra bins do not solve the problem of lazy people who do not use them: prosecute offenders
both car parks Silsden
bradley road green
Aire view, Elliott Street, Park, Beck
The river - there is always rubbish going down the slope and towards the park in the river.
Outside takeaways and pubs.
Litter bits in the right place. There is not a litter bin at the top of Mitchel Lane but this is an entrance to the park and the absence of a bin is a major cause of dog bag rubbish in this area
the back of some units that look onto to the beck
Canal banks dog poo bags, dog walkers need fining.
Main road as this is 'front door' to the town
dont think theres litter problem at all in silsden waste of money paying someone to clean up after us. more bins maybe billboard with sign from children in local schools advertising keep our village clean n tidy place them at bus stop shelters it encourages our young to look aft our home  we can also advertise the dog fouling this way.
The Becks and DOG FOULING, especially in the park where children play.
The park, especially the area by the swings, is often covered in litter and unsafe for young children
Around parts of the park and on some streets
The park at the top by the rugby pitch always has litter amongst the trees. The beck next to the skateboard park is always full of litter. Another thing to say is it angers me when i walk my dogs and see people not picking up their own dogs mess or throwing the bags in the hedgerows. I think there should be people occasionally patroling to name & shame them and also submit fines. I don't think its fair for children playing in the park or people picnicing. And finally, i don't think people need to be employed to keep the streets clean & tidy, the government should enforce people who are unemployed to contribute to their community during the week, by going round and picking up litter, painting & general tidying. Plus, come winter, they could be out with the rest of us clearing driveways, paths, etc.
Around the car part at Canal Street.
Aireview Off Licence, insufficient litter bins, particularly at the weekend.
Small square on Kirkgate by beck, litter left there attracts rats in large numbers and despite reporting this nothing is done about it.
Both car parks - Silsden.
Brown Bank by Tannery Corner, Howden Lane by cemetery, recycling area.
Mitchell Lane could do with a dog waste bin also people seem to like decorating bushes and walls with filled dog waste bags.
The beck.
Can't comment, not able to be about owing to being disabled.
Park beck side. Park play area.
No particular place, but while most dogs owners act responsibly there is still a problem of dog dirt on may pavements.
Dog litter bins would be very useful for dog owners.
Ginnel leading from bend in Craven Drive to the main street.
Dog fouling, snicket from Bradley Road to Hillcrest back road.
The beck by the Post Office - take away rubbish boxes etc.
The beck and the recycling centre.
Outside of the public houses and clubs. Drinking alcohol outside the above.
Along canal pathway. Canal underpass Hainsworth Road - dog fouling. Silsden Park - skate park and river.
The beck and under the canal in Hainsworth Road and in the park.
The becks. The park. Hainsworth Road... The countryside stretch. Elliott Street.
The becks, near park.
Everywhere.
Problems with litter - as above the duck pond and rats, the becks - not only in park area but also by/under Clog bridge particularly behind some of the restaurants.
Hainsworth Road. Dog waste bags hanging from many trees.
The beck in Silsden.
On dog routes.
Most areas where there are dog walkers/footpaths, more bins would reduce unnecessary 'bagged parcels' left and encourage less responsible dog walkers to clean up after their dogs.
The park.
Howden Road, dog fouling.
Robin Lane made mile, lots of can, cartons, bottles.
Control dog fouling.
Howden Road. Park.
Mitchell Lane, park, memorial gardens at times.
Bottom of playing fields and by beck.
Everywhere.
Country lanes -  as stated previous - Brownbank bottom. House owners try to keep up to their perimeters. Cringles gets bottles broken. People don't sweep outside their own houses anymore – probably due to cars parked on roads. Memorial gardens – takeaway empties.
Mainly near shops including Aireview Stores and canal. Dog mess in general around Aireview, Hothfield Street and surrounding roads and along canal in both directions.
Hedgerows and roadside verges. The park. Takeaway food and packages on pavements.
Becks to be kept free of dumping, river boards to be asked to do beck bed maintenance i.e. the weir at the duck pond and supporting walks.
Everywhere. There are too many takeaway outlets. People eat the contents and dump the containers. Also around the skateboard area in the playing fields.
The snicket cum path from Craven Drive down between the semis (v bad in my opinion) past the football field and down towards the garage (Paul's) and on along Mitchell Lane. This area is also nearly over grown with weeds. It is shocking that any one is expected to walk this route.
Around the takeaway outlets. Parts of the park.
River. Children's playground.
By the canal towpath - not enough bins - encourages dog owners to leave poo or pick it up but inappropriately dispose of the bags.
Litter and dog fouling is very bad around Aire View Infant School and Hothfield Junior School.
Park - beck. Howden Road.
Everywhere.
Beck. Park.
The park.
Park.
Park. Aire View. Belton Road near industrial park.
Recycling area.
Park, beck, skateboard area.
Howden Road, Ings Way.
The beck. Behind library. Rocks N Ramps area and above where youths loiter.
The park is full of litter and dog fouling. There is more than enough litter bins, it is just lazy people and kids who can't be bothered to use them. Too much dog fouling on the pavements on Ingsway, people again can't be bothered to pick it up.
Town centre, main street. The beck. Park.
The park. Howden Road from Clog Bridge to Ingsway, especially the grass verge since the bushes were cut down revealing an eyesore of a fence. Where litter always gathers.
The park.
The beck in the centre of Silsden, takeaway rubbish strewn around. Also litter on Brown Bank Lane discarded from passing vehicles - bottles/cans etc.
Canal footpaths need dog litter boxes and patrols. Main street and side streets need more of the same, and  Mitchell Lane. Dog owners even collect the direct in bags and then hang them on trees or throw them into gardens. More patrols and fines needed.
Main Street, park.
Beck. Mitchell Lane. Park. Bolton Road. Elliot Street, Hainsworth Lane.
Park.
Back of the Punch Bowl pub. Dog fouling around Spencer Avenue, the Co-op and the schools.
The beck, skate park broken glass around especially by the park bridge. The footpath from Craven Drive to Mitchell Lane also needs weeds cutting back and the footpath needs resurfacing, it has nearly disappeared. More dog bins and patrols, they even collect and hang on trees, fines needed.
Air View, South View, Culvert, Elliott Street.
Still trouble with dog mess on canal and other areas. Though not as bad as it used to be.
Kirkgate gardens. Footpaths - dog dirt.
Tufton Street/Hothfield Street.
Dog poo on the streets. I will gladly volunteer to police dog walkers.
Bin men often leave waste vegetation on roads after collections are made. This is not a serious problem, however, it can be unsightly.
The passage between two houses in Craven Drive Silsden.
Park.
Overall problem.
Public footpaths between Middleway and Drabble House Farm is a problem areas as sign to say clean up after your dog but no bin provided, so unfortunately some people pick up their dog poo in plastic bags and stuff it in dry stone wall.
Possibly fewer takeaways that produce volumes of litter. Educate people to take a pride in their community. Foot patrols and enforce any legal enforcement I.e. fines.
Parks, roadsides.
Around skateboard park it is disgusting. Brown Bank Lane verges. Beck by post office and park.
Kirkgate and area around the Co-op and car parks.
Skipton Road, Kirkgate, Briggate, Beck. Change a local tax to all takeaway businesses in Silsden for emptying bins/disposal of rubbish.
Skate park.
The beck in Silsden centre and on its way out of Silsden.
Where to start? Litter is a big problem countrywide, not just in Silsden, and as it stems from a general apathy from, it seems, all ages is going to be hard to stop happening, therefore it needs more funding to clear as much up as possible. Silsden problem areas seem to be rubbish in the becks/rivers/canals and most of all the dog waste topic. Definitely need more bins to be placed at intervals along the canal. People seem to be bagging it up but have nowhere to put it. Hence it is slung all over, it is worse in bags as it is then not biodegradable.
The park area not due to litter bins but youths and lazy people.
Outside schools and park areas.
Litter blown from the Mayors skip yard onto the surrounding countryside.
Steps off Bolton Road known as the cat steps.
The beck, the green.
Silsden Co-op store.
The footpaths from Dradishaw Road to Elm Grove, in parts needs repair, spring clean should be helped by walking groups or Scouts/Guides. I would help, I have worked on similar projects but not as a leader I need to brush up on footpath law.
Empty bin on the green on Bradley Avenue as always full of dog foul.
Land on the left hand side of Keighley Road, just after entry to Silsden, currently up for sale, but which doesn’t create a good impression as it is the first thing to be seen. However, on the whole Silsden is kept relatively free from litter in the main street.
The beck. The wood below the reservoir. Some footpaths leading off the park. The park sometimes.
Silsden beck (rear of the Methodist church) leading to the park.
At takeaway food premises. Beck side benches on High Street.
Park, Main Street.
Aire View. I know this is not all the residents fault, as most people use this street, but household waste bins left out all the time look unsightly.
Silsden park.
Recycling area - Wesley Place. Bus stop Bridge Street.
Playing fields - the beck.
Park sometimes.
Playing fields.
Nowhere in particular.
Park and dog fouling.
Many places.
Since the last litter warden/sweeper (who was excellent) retired, Silsden does not appear to be as clean and tidy especially the main road and beck.
Park (out of sight areas). Some back street areas.
The beck. The park.
Beck outside the post office and seating area. Park and the flower beds. Lots of litter around the children's play area.
Fast food outlets.
Beck and park.
There is still a problem along the canal side with dog fouling, although it has improved since the bins were installed.
Main street by the beck.
Side streets.
Silsden park. Aire View wheelie bins on path.
Silsden park. Dog fouling is a big problem.
Becks. Park. Dog litter all by Hothfield Street.
Park and its entrances and canal bridges.
Hainsworth Road. Bolton Road. Local Park.
Mitchell Lane it is a disgrace. No one either sweeps or picks up the litter or digs out weeds.
The park and any unused area I.e. beck and canal paths.
Electric sub station just before turning into Brindley Road. Dog poo bags thrown on roof.
The park. Area near youth club, doctors and all over the pavements.
Holden Lane and Howden Road litter.
Some debris in trees/buses coming into Silsden (bypass to Blue Balls) other wise very tidy.
Along Kirkgate. Snicket between park green and Skipton Road - dog poo (in plastic bags) a real problem.
Town centre.
Kirkgate around beck. Hainsworth Road under culvert both litter and dog fouling.
Most places are litter problems. But that is mostly due to the public who couldn’t care less.
Dog poo everywhere.
In the playing fields, particularly where the young people congregate with their skateboards and bicycles.
A dog patrol person on canal and streets to actually prosecute dog fouling culprits. Signs are not enough if people heard that people were actually being prosecuted it would I think be more of a deterrent.
Park. Side streets, beck, skateboard area.
Round library in memorial gardens.
Side streets around town centre. Ings Way, Waterside full of dog foul.
Nicholson's Place is very bad for rubbish and weeds.
Dog mess on path to rear of the Methodist church along side of beck.
We need more dog litter bins around Silsden.
Beck and pond area. All around the takeaway outlets.
Park and culvert.
Normally around the park. Many people who cant be bothered to find a bin throw it on the floor. Over time this litter builds up.
Silsden park.
The park. Outside the Co-op (bushes on front street and side of beck). The bottom of Brown Bank Lane where it joins Bolton Road.
Sweepers should occasionally (say once a month) sweep the roads away from the centre of Silsden. After all we all pay our rates the same as the folks in the centre. The public could help by using litter bins and picking items off the pavement and putting them in a bin.
In playing fields.
The playing field and the area around the children's playground.
The snicket running from Mitchell Lane through to Craven Drive. Canal banks. Beck sides.
Memorial gardens - dumping of fast food trays and cans etc.
The green. Playing fields.
Outside takeaway outlets and food shops.
Memorial garden. Cemetery. Park.
Playing fields. Dog fouling. Becks.
Fly tipping around Brunthwaite Lane and Lightbank Lane.
The park area and the beck.
Pathway between Mitchell Lane and Craven Drive.
Everywhere. Dog fouling is a major problem all through the town especially in church grave yard.
The recycling area is often very messy.
Ings Way dog fouling. Canal side dog fouling. All Silsden dog fouling. Dog dirt bins are needed.
The park.
Silsden park particularly the skateboard area, this is a disgraceful mess. The beck is also littered with refuse around the park area and the post office and duck pond area. No surprise we have a problem with rats in these areas.
There is a general litter problem but the memorial gardens, the beck are two areas of concern. We could use more dog poo bins. Silsden hasn’t been as clean as it was when we had a regular street sweeper person.
Station.
Wesley place car park. Nab car parks.
All the streets throughout Silsden are in decline. The new bandstand is becoming a magnet for the youth of Silsden to gather and leave their litter and dog mess, and more recently the houses backing on to the canal now throw their garden rubbish over the walls including large conifers between Clog Bridge and the first turn off by the old weigh house.
Outside takeaways and pubs. In the parks. Overflowing litter bins.
In the hedge rows. If these things were looked at in a regular way the extras would not be necessary. Get the young ones motivated with a clean up and then a disco - new friends would be made and new values learned - look at things as a whole.
park and country roads especially dog poo. Bus stops.
Rocks and ramps (skate/bike park). Silsden beck near rocks and ramps. Outside most takeaways.
The Yorkshire water building at the top of Skipton Road is used to dump bags of dog muck. There must be over 50 bags left there. More dog fouling signs attached to lam posts.
Problem with dog fouling especially along Ings Way shocking amounts every day all along pavements where I walk.
The park, especially around the skateboarding area. The Beck. Brown Bank Lane.
Skipton is difficult to get to by bus as service is limited.
The park.
Surrounding are, the recycling area. Canal towpath in Wesley Place.
Not the bins, they are not the problem but we should have litter wardens 24 hours to give out fines £50 on the spot.
The beck. Where it flows through the village it should be regularly kept clean.
Hainsworth Road, Belton Road, Howden Road, Ings Way, Kirkgate, near Co-op, near library, park.
Elliott Street. Ings Way. Near Co-op. Fouling all over Silsden especially Elliott Street.
Dog dirt bins.
The beck behind businesses on the high street.
Football field.
Canal.
Centre of Silsden - along many streets/roads leading from this area especially on nights when the younger generation are enjoying themselves.
The beck, church yard, park and some streets. The duck pond on beck is full of rubbish and seating area next to it full of broken glass.
Three is some litter in St Johns Street Kirkgate and the canal but the worst problem is dog fouling almost everywhere.
Belton Road especially at the junction with Keighley Road.
The small cleaning vehicle comes round but he doesn’t come round our area only just a yard or to of Ings Road. I overlook this area so I see he doesn’t come into it. When I go to the health centre the litter on Elliott Street is awful, I take it it’s the teenagers who are guilty its disgusting.
Outside takeaways and pubs including the Co-op.
All over as it comes down beck and river and floods my land.
Hainsworth Road, Belton Road.
Canal towpaths - litter and dog muck bags. Recreation area - the area around the bike ramps. The town centre area.
Park area, snicket down to beck.
All of Silsden has a litter problem it is getting worse especially since John McNulty stopped cleaning the streets. I would do a part time job if paid to help keep our streets cleaner (part time). We also need more litter bins, especially Skipton Road area and do what North Yorks do supply poo bins. That surely would help the poo situation.
Wherever there is water. Also problem with dog bags being left, particularly Hainsworth Road. Several farms, including Drabble House, are dirty and untidy and an absolute eyesore.
Dog fouling - Howden Road, Ings Way.
The beck near the skate park.
The back. The river. The park.
Dog fouling on Bradley Road, Foster avenue and approaches to the green. Dog owners not removing faeces from the green. Takeaway cartons, bottles, cans, cigarettes butts, and wrappers from all streets. Rubbish thrown out of cars up Bradley Road towards the moor. I once picked up 30 empty cans.
Main street after weekend.
The modern problem of chewing gum dropped on the ground pervades the whole village.
Footpath behind the pumping station Skipton Road. A litter bin is needed top priority and a clean up operation as it is now a health hazard.
I've noticed problems all over Silsden.
In general a lot of areas in Silsden look scruffy, dog mess is an unacceptable problem with ignorant dog owners leaving bags in trees.
Passage/footpath between Skipton Road and park green.
Around the bus shelters. In the park. Outside one or two pubs and takeaways sometimes. Generally it is not a huge problem but those who drink outside from cans or bottle are the main culprits.
Recycling area (Wesley Place).
The beck under the bridge going into the park.
Outside pubs on main street.
The park named above get very untidy.
Belton Road. Silsden park. Keighley Road near football academy and roundabout.
Down by the back behind recycling centre. Near takeaways at front with pizza boxes etc.
All the side streets.
Around the Co-op with bottles, sandwich containers, sweet wrappers.
By the beck/park.
The park.
Main street. Aire View. Elliott Street.
More dog fouling problems that litter. On most of streets off main road.
Co-op and the beck/river through the middle of the town. Back streets - I ask the question why do we spoil our own aspects and leisure facilities.
Park, back of library, MUGA Elliott Street.
Howden Road.
Bandstand area.
Most areas where yobs throw their takeaway wrappers/cartons out of car windows.
The culvert under the canal at Hainsworth Road. Teenagers hang around and drop litter including glass/broken glass bottles. Also some lazy dog owners use the culvert as a dog toilet and don’t pick up even though a bin has recently been provided close by.
New Road dog fouling.
Neighbours dumping rubbish in others gardens and allowing dogs to foul.
The Silsden moor roads. Bolton Road as far as Cringles.
The only problem area we have found is the fault of certain dog owners allowing their pets to litter the pavements. How you re-educate these selfish owners is an enormous task and we couldn’t suggest how to solve the problem.
Memorial gardens. Park. Main street - outside various takeaways and pubs.
The drains all over Silsden could be cleaned more as when it rains the drains often can not take the water especially after a dry spell.
Grassed area at junction of Elliott Street and Millfields.
Nab Road. Brown bank Lane. Holden Lane. Hauber Lane. Hainsworth Road. Swartha Lane.
Sometimes outside the social club on the whole the town is quite litter free.
Around shops, not necessarily outside the shops because people buy something and eat or drink it while walking away from the shop then drop the litter.
Mainly in becks I.e. Clog Bridge (takeaway junk cartons). Increasingly the country lanes out of the centre/over the tops - young people throw cans/food cartons into verges (assume at night).
The bottom of Elliott Street never gets cleaned because of all the parking. Buses can hardly get through. Drains are blocked with rubbish. Also there should be dog bins and more rubbish bins in Silsden.
Almost every roadside leading to and from the town is a disgrace with particular emphasis on fast food outlets. Containers - many not located in Silsden. Beer and drinks cans and bottles thrown from passing vehicles. Fly tipping on Lightbank Lane, Brunthwaite Lane and Brown Bank Lane a constant and repeating problem.
From top of Hillcrest avenue up to gated access to open fields.
Recycling area. Park. Seating area, side of beck on Kirkgate.
Park.
Buck Lane.
Town centre. Bushes around the Co-op. Cats eyes steps.
the canal towpath and bags of dog muck Howden Road, Ings Way.
Park and beck. Dog fouling all over Silsden.
Kirkgate at weekends.
The beck from the skateboard area to Clog Bridge. Around the train station.
Country roads just outside Silsden are a problem. Fly tipping, McDonalds cartons etc. thrown from car window, especially round the moor.
Dog fouling.
We have a significant issue with dog fouling its awful especially around the schools and pavements. Please can this be an issue to address further.
Memorial gardens. Main street.
Skateboarding area. Park especially Saturday and Sunday mornings, bottles and cans everywhere. Elliott Street near the school.
The park. Behind the Co-op corner of Hillcrest Avenue and Spencer Avenue. Brown Bank.
Cans and bottles thrown on grass verges Skipton Road and elsewhere.
Back streets and takeaways. Drop used carton etc. on paths roads or peoples gardens. Too many takeaways.
Silsden Park.
Around park area bins are overflowing with larger cans and dog poo bags, isn’t that supposed to go in a separate bin, and lack of people who do not bother to pick up their dogs poo.
Top of Silsden Road, that leads to lower park green, runs parallel with Water Authority building, lots of dog poo bags thrown through fence and on side of path, despite signs that somebody has kindly put up, it is all still there. More dog poo bins around top of Silsden Road, Woodside Road please.
Children play areas in park, broken glass.
By the Beck, at the bridge behind Wesley Place.
We used to have a litter warden when I moved to Silsden 13 years ago and the place was spotless.
The area around the CO-OP in particular outside Twisters.
Cat steps off Bolton Road. In the park especially around skateboard area and adjacent Back.
The Beck near the skate park.
Duck pond.
Do mess, I have to be always aware where I put my foot, I only experience this in Silsden.
Park, around swings loads of cans, bottles. Beck around skate park.
I don’t think we have a big problem with litter in Silsden.
Beck, bottom of Bradley Road.
Beck.
The back path between Bradley Avenue and the Co-op supermarket. Bradley Road between the green ant the Raikes residential home.
The Beck as people seem to use this as a dumping ground. Also the area where the recycling skips are located.
Aire View.
Fines for dog fouling, littering.
High street is an issue after weekends.
The Beck and around the park.
 The Beck, the park.
The park, especially in the summer after people have gathered together for parties, e.g. Friday and Saturday evenings. Bottles are a huge problem in the part, especially when broken.
The Beck by the park, and down the banking.
Outside takeaways, Beck.
Mitchell Lane, library area. When there was a litter warden these areas were kept clear of discarded food wrappers, cartons, tins and bottles.
Skipton Road, Kirkgate, Elliott Street.
Dog waste problem all over Silsden.
Back near Park bridge.
In the Beck playing fields litter.
Footpath Mitchell Lane to Craven Drive does not get cleaned properly or often enough. It is used by young people at night for drinking. There are bottles, cans, takeaway trays etc. Dead leaves from years ago. Also junction of Howden Road is the same.
Although I have not been in the park for a little while the area around the copse of trees above the rugby pitch and the banking at the bottom of the football field is usually quite bad.
Many back streets usually due to overflowing wheelie bins.
Outside most takeaways especially by the Beck.
Main routes though Silsden , all streets, cemetery, park, country lanes around Silsden.
Near the park, dog fouling in all Silsden.
Takeaway outlets.
Outside the library the play area in the park. The beck.
The park, the memorial tree copse has a big problem with litter, as down the skateboard area. The wardens need to show themselves more frequently and take tough action on dog owners who do not pick up after their pets.
The ramp and rocks area in the park is awful. There are plenty of bins however the children who use this area seem unable to use the bins provided and throw littler on the ground and into the beck. During spells of warm weather the park is used for picnics and barbeques and sadly large amounts of litter are left behind. If the weather is windy the litter blows into the trees and it looks awful.
The streets in town are very good - it is the lanes and roads which need attention e.g. Brown Bank Lane/Holden Lane etc.
Bradley Road. Aire Road and New Road dog fouling in particular.
Beck and surrounding area.
Snicket joining Mitchell Lane with Craven Drive.
mostly park - everywhere. You look in ditches, beck, streets a mess.
Canal towpath.
A service to Skipton would be important.
Dog fouling and littering should be prosecuted. Park, beck.
Outside the library. The beck.
The park in the areas by the beck.
Silsden parks and memorial gardens.
Cat steps and the park.
The grass verges on Howden Road, close to Ings Way are always full of empty cans, bottle and other mess. The dog fouling is terrible on Ings Way and many other areas of Silsden. We need some PCSO's to patrol around the town to try and catch these anti-social people who don't give a damn about their environment.
Everywhere.
Laziness of people, canal walking. Round the Nab no bins.
Litter and dog fouling is a problem in the park and cobbled areas.
Church yard.
You can not sweep litter for parked cars.
Playing fields.
Main street over weekend through drunkenness.
Dog fouling persists in Howden Road, particularly at the higher end, despite some local residents posting notices outside their homes, asking dog walkers to clean up their pets deposits.
Brown Bank it’s a mess.
Down by the cat steps.
By the bus stop. Opposite Cobbydale club.
Everywhere.
From top of Bolton Road turn right all way up to Nab End. Down footpath bottom of playing fields. Down to Mitchell Lane. Also dog fouling.
Play areas in Silsden park especially skateboard park and beck.
Litter less than concerning - its dog mess that’s the worst.
There is always a build up of litter on Nab Lane on the moor road. Sometimes parking to look at the beautiful view is ruined by litter and other items of litter and rubbish (the odd mattress from time to time, bottles and takeaway cartons).
Elliott Street. Belton Road.
Any road and grass verges and around the beck.
Footpath from Craven Drive to the Park. Footpath from Skipton Road onto Waterside (at the top). The park as a whole. All of these areas have too much litter and too much dog dirt. Some of it piled up in bags.
Elliott Street has no litter bins. I frequently have to ask Bradford council to clean street. I myself pick up litter and pebbles from outside my house. The street was last cleaned 6th March 2012 I organised this.
If you look closely anywhere there's littler. Employing a sweeper like John McNautly, who keep Silsden spotless and did a fantastic job, would at least lesson the problem. Employ more litter warden.
High Street.
Down Howden Road. Takeaway food boxes just get thrown on their way home.
The lane between Post office bridge and Craven Drive. I also disagree with the boards wording about dog muck. A child asked what the word sh** meant.
The becks, and Kirkgate near beck.
Beck. Skip hire business area. All footpaths in built up area.
In the park.
Around Howden Road and the canal. Behind curry house backing onto the canal. Not so much a litter problem, people who let their dogs foul on the pavements or leave poo in bags should be fined.
The becks.
Park, fields, path ways, stream, canal, outside Co-op.
Overflow at recycle bins. Park. River/beck.
At the moment down by the blue balls near to where the travellers are.
Near drinking establishments where broken glass is a particular problem. Need dog waste bins as using open litter bins is unhygienic.
All over.
Many areas in and around Silsden (particularly along the canal) are littered with plastic bags or dog muck. And beer cans and bottles litter the Banklands Lane recreation ground.
Snicket between Mitchell Lane and Craven Drive.
The beck near the Post Office often has rubbish thrown in e.g. road cones etc.
The park.
Main street and public footpaths.
Silsden beck.
Nowhere in general.
Litter and doggie bags in hedges, Hainsworth Road, Silsden.
Clog Bridge/Hainworth Road culvert.
The park.
Mitchell Lane (cat steps).
Everywhere!
Playing fields.
The beck.
By the park. By bins when they don't get emptied.
Dog litter bins in the park. Make the Youth Council police themselves around the ramps. This area is a disgrace.
Memorial garden by the library. Area around the Co-op, including the bush area on Spencer Avenue. Area around the recycling skips, rear of library.
Kirkgate at weekends.
Rocks and Ramps area of park. Canalside and beckside in some areas.
Briggate and Kirkgate.
In the park - skateboard area.
Bottom of Howden Road.
No bins to encourage collection of dog waste.
We badly need more salt bins. Especially North Street! Very steep!
Underneath the Canal Aqueduct at end of Hainworth Road. In the park, especially near rugby pitch.
Co-op.
Everywhere, more so near takeaways. The road leading to industrial estate outside Co-op. Road opposite blue bollards has dog mess bags filled, stuffed along the hedges - disgusting.
The beck.
The park, the beck.
Around Co-op and Sunny Bank (British Legion) Club.
Memorial gardens. Silsden park.
All areas.
Main street/beck.
Around Co-op (Hillcrest Ave). Takeaways (Kirkgate).
Street outside school and under Clogg Bridge are a problem with dog waste.
Residential areas, around local shops in particular - where litter is often thrown rather than put into a bin.
Everywhere to some extent. The beck? Approx 15 years ago - a well advertised and attended 'Clean up Silsden' day was organised. This brought members of the community together and hopefully set an example to the many children who attended.
In beck, Kirkgate.
Many of the quieter streets as these areas pay the same council tax but get neglected as regards road sweeping and general upkeep. Very unpleasant at times under the viaduct near Clog Bridge, litter and dog fouling, an area where many school children walk to school and adults into town.
Everywhere, except main street.
